1 And God|strong="H0430" said|strong="H0559" unto Jacob|strong="H3290", Arise|strong="H6965", go up|strong="H5927" to Beth-el|strong="H1008", and dwell|strong="H3427" there: and make|strong="H6213" there an altar|strong="H4196" unto God|strong="H0410", that appeared|strong="H7200" unto thee when thou fleddest|strong="H1272" from the face|strong="H6440" of Esau|strong="H6215" thy brother|strong="H0251".
2 Then Jacob|strong="H3290" said|strong="H0559" unto his household|strong="H1004", and to all that were with him, Put away|strong="H5493" the strange|strong="H5236" gods|strong="H0430" that are among you|strong="H8432", and be clean|strong="H2891", and change|strong="H2498" your garments|strong="H8071":
3 And let us arise|strong="H6965", and go up|strong="H5927" to Beth-el|strong="H1008"; and I will make|strong="H6213" there an altar|strong="H4196" unto God|strong="H0410", who answered|strong="H6030" me in the day|strong="H3117" of my distress|strong="H6869", and was with me in the way|strong="H1870" which I went|strong="H1980".
4 And they gave|strong="H5414" unto Jacob|strong="H3290" all the strange|strong="H5236" gods|strong="H0430" which were in their hand|strong="H3027", and all their earrings|strong="H5141" which were in their ears|strong="H0241"; and Jacob|strong="H3290" hid|strong="H2934" them under the oak|strong="H0424" which was by Shechem|strong="H7927".
5 And they journeyed|strong="H5265": and the terror|strong="H2847" of God|strong="H0430" was upon the cities|strong="H5892" that were round about|strong="H5439" them, and they did not pursue|strong="H7291" after|strong="H0310" the sons|strong="H1121" of Jacob|strong="H3290".
6 So Jacob|strong="H3290" came|strong="H0935" to Luz|strong="H3870", which is in the land|strong="H0776" of Canaan|strong="H3667", that is, Beth-el|strong="H1008", he and all the people|strong="H5971" that were with him.
7 And he built|strong="H1129" there an altar|strong="H4196", and called|strong="H7121" the place|strong="H4725" El-beth-el|strong="H0416": because there God|strong="H0430" appeared|strong="H1540" unto him, when he fled|strong="H1272" from the face|strong="H6440" of his brother|strong="H0251".
8 But Deborah|strong="H1683" Rebekah’s|strong="H7259" nurse|strong="H3243" died|strong="H4191", and she was buried|strong="H6912" beneath Beth-el|strong="H1008" under an oak|strong="H0437": and the name|strong="H8034" of it was called|strong="H7121" Allon-bachuth|strong="H0439".
9 And God|strong="H0430" appeared|strong="H7200" unto Jacob|strong="H3290" again, when he came|strong="H0935" out of Padan-aram|strong="H6307", and blessed|strong="H1288" him.
10 And God|strong="H0430" said|strong="H0559" unto him, Thy name|strong="H8034" is Jacob|strong="H3290": thy name|strong="H8034" shall not be called|strong="H7121" any more Jacob|strong="H3290", but Israel|strong="H3478" shall be thy name|strong="H8034": and he called|strong="H7121" his name|strong="H8034" Israel|strong="H3478".
11 And God|strong="H0430" said|strong="H0559" unto him, I am God|strong="H0410" Almighty|strong="H7706": be fruitful|strong="H6509" and multiply|strong="H7235"; a nation|strong="H1471" and a company|strong="H6951" of nations|strong="H1471" shall be of thee, and kings|strong="H4428" shall come|strong="H3318" out of thy loins|strong="H2504";
12 And the land|strong="H0776" which I gave|strong="H5414" Abraham|strong="H0085" and Isaac|strong="H3327", to thee I will give it|strong="H5414", and to thy seed|strong="H2233" after thee|strong="H0310" will I give|strong="H5414" the land|strong="H0776".
13 And God|strong="H0430" went up|strong="H5927" from him in the place|strong="H4725" where he talked|strong="H1696" with him.
14 And Jacob|strong="H3290" set up|strong="H5324" a pillar|strong="H4676" in the place|strong="H4725" where he talked|strong="H1696" with him, even a pillar|strong="H4678" of stone|strong="H0068": and he poured|strong="H5258" a drink offering|strong="H5262" thereon, and he poured|strong="H3332" oil|strong="H8081" thereon.
15 And Jacob|strong="H3290" called|strong="H7121" the name|strong="H8034" of the place|strong="H4725" where God|strong="H0430" spake|strong="H1696" with him, Beth-el|strong="H1008".
16 And they journeyed|strong="H5265" from Beth-el|strong="H1008"; and there was but|strong="H5750" a little|strong="H3530" way|strong="H0776" to come|strong="H0935" to Ephrath|strong="H0672": and Rachel|strong="H7354" travailed|strong="H3205", and she had hard|strong="H7185" labour|strong="H3205".
17 And it came to pass, when she was in hard|strong="H7185" labour|strong="H3205", that the midwife|strong="H3205" said|strong="H0559" unto her, Fear|strong="H3372" not; thou shalt have this son|strong="H1121" also.
18 And it came to pass, as her soul|strong="H5315" was in departing|strong="H3318", (for she died|strong="H4191") that she called|strong="H7121" his name|strong="H8034" Ben-oni|strong="H1126": but his father|strong="H0001" called|strong="H7121" him Benjamin|strong="H1144".
19 And Rachel|strong="H7354" died|strong="H4191", and was buried|strong="H6912" in the way|strong="H1870" to Ephrath|strong="H0672", which is Beth-lehem|strong="H1035".
20 And Jacob|strong="H3290" set|strong="H5324" a pillar|strong="H4676" upon her grave|strong="H6900": that is the pillar|strong="H4678" of Rachel’s|strong="H7354" grave|strong="H6900" unto this day|strong="H3117".
21 And Israel|strong="H3478" journeyed|strong="H5265", and spread|strong="H5186" his tent|strong="H0168" beyond|strong="H1973" the tower|strong="H4026" of Edar|strong="H4029".
22 And it came to pass, when Israel|strong="H3478" dwelt|strong="H7931" in that land|strong="H0776", that Reuben|strong="H7205" went|strong="H3212" and lay|strong="H7901" with Bilhah|strong="H1090" his father’s|strong="H0001" concubine|strong="H6370": and Israel|strong="H3478" heard|strong="H8085" it. Now the sons|strong="H1121" of Jacob|strong="H3290" were twelve|strong="H8147":
23 The sons|strong="H1121" of Leah|strong="H3812"; Reuben|strong="H7205", Jacob’s|strong="H3290" firstborn|strong="H1060", and Simeon|strong="H8095", and Levi|strong="H3878", and Judah|strong="H3063", and Issachar|strong="H3485", and Zebulun|strong="H2074":
24 The sons|strong="H1121" of Rachel|strong="H7354"; Joseph|strong="H3130", and Benjamin|strong="H1144":
25 And the sons|strong="H1121" of Bilhah|strong="H1090", Rachel’s|strong="H7354" handmaid|strong="H8198"; Dan|strong="H1835", and Naphtali|strong="H5321":
26 And the sons|strong="H1121" of Zilpah|strong="H2153", Leah’s|strong="H3812" handmaid|strong="H8198"; Gad|strong="H1410", and Asher|strong="H0836": these are the sons|strong="H1121" of Jacob|strong="H3290", which were born|strong="H3205" to him in Padan-aram|strong="H6307".
27 And Jacob|strong="H3290" came|strong="H0935" unto Isaac|strong="H3327" his father|strong="H0001" unto Mamre|strong="H4471", unto the city of Arbah|strong="H7153", which is Hebron|strong="H2275", where Abraham|strong="H0085" and Isaac|strong="H3327" sojourned|strong="H1481".
28 And the days|strong="H3117" of Isaac|strong="H3327" were an hundred|strong="H3967" and fourscore|strong="H8084" years|strong="H8141".
29 And Isaac|strong="H3327" gave up the ghost|strong="H1478", and died|strong="H4191", and was gathered|strong="H0622" unto his people|strong="H5971", being old|strong="H2205" and full|strong="H7649" of days|strong="H3117": and his sons|strong="H1121" Esau|strong="H6215" and Jacob|strong="H3290" buried|strong="H6912" him.
