Êxodo 5

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

And afterward|strong="H0310" Moses|strong="H4872" and Aaron|strong="H0175" went in|strong="H0935", and told|strong="H0559" Pharaoh|strong="H6547", Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", Let my people|strong="H5971" go|strong="H7971", that they may hold a feast|strong="H2287" unto me in the wilderness|strong="H4057".

And Pharaoh|strong="H6547" said|strong="H0559", Who is the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, that I should obey|strong="H8085" his voice|strong="H6963" to let Israel|strong="H3478" go|strong="H7971"? I know|strong="H3045" not the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, neither will I let Israel|strong="H3478" go|strong="H7971".

And they said|strong="H0559", The God|strong="H0430" of the Hebrews|strong="H5680" hath met|strong="H7122" with us: let us go|strong="H3212", we pray thee, three|strong="H7969" days’|strong="H3117" journey|strong="H1870" into the desert|strong="H4057", and sacrifice|strong="H2076" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430"; lest he fall|strong="H6293" upon us with pestilence|strong="H1698", or with the sword|strong="H2719".

And the king|strong="H4428" of Egypt|strong="H4714" said|strong="H0559" unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses|strong="H4872" and Aaron|strong="H0175", let|strong="H6544" the people|strong="H5971" from their works|strong="H4639"? get|strong="H3212" you unto your burdens|strong="H5450".

And Pharaoh|strong="H6547" said|strong="H0559", Behold, the people|strong="H5971" of the land|strong="H0776" now are many|strong="H7227", and ye make them rest|strong="H7673" from their burdens|strong="H5450".

And Pharaoh|strong="H6547" commanded|strong="H6680" the same day|strong="H3117" the taskmasters|strong="H5065" of the people|strong="H5971", and their officers|strong="H7860", saying|strong="H0559",

Ye shall no more|strong="H3254" give|strong="H5414" the people|strong="H5971" straw|strong="H8401" to make|strong="H3835" brick|strong="H3843", as heretofore|strong="H8032": let them go|strong="H3212" and gather|strong="H7197" straw|strong="H8401" for themselves.

And the tale|strong="H4971" of the bricks|strong="H3843", which they did make|strong="H6213" heretofore|strong="H8032", ye shall lay|strong="H7760" upon them; ye shall not diminish|strong="H1639" ought thereof: for they be idle|strong="H7503"; therefore they cry|strong="H6817", saying|strong="H0559", Let us go|strong="H3212" and sacrifice|strong="H2076" to our God|strong="H0430".

Let there more work|strong="H5656" be laid|strong="H3513" upon the men|strong="H0582", that they may labour|strong="H6213" therein; and let them not regard|strong="H8159" vain|strong="H8267" words|strong="H1697".

And the taskmasters|strong="H5065" of the people|strong="H5971" went out|strong="H3318", and their officers|strong="H7860", and they spake|strong="H0559" to the people|strong="H5971", saying|strong="H0559", Thus saith|strong="H0559" Pharaoh|strong="H6547", I will not give|strong="H5414" you straw|strong="H8401".

Go|strong="H3212" ye, get|strong="H3947" you straw|strong="H8401" where|strong="H0834" ye can find|strong="H4672" it: yet|strong="H3588" not ought|strong="H1697" of your work|strong="H5656" shall be diminished|strong="H1639".

So the people|strong="H5971" were scattered abroad|strong="H6327" throughout all the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714" to gather|strong="H7197" stubble|strong="H7179" instead of straw|strong="H8401".

And the taskmasters|strong="H5065" hasted|strong="H0213" them, saying|strong="H0559", Fulfil|strong="H3615" your works|strong="H4639", your daily|strong="H3117" tasks|strong="H1697", as when there was|strong="H1961" straw|strong="H8401".

And the officers|strong="H7860" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", which Pharaoh’s|strong="H6547" taskmasters|strong="H5065" had set|strong="H7760" over them, were beaten|strong="H5221", and demanded|strong="H0559", Wherefore have ye not fulfilled|strong="H3615" your task|strong="H2706" in making brick|strong="H3835" both yesterday|strong="H8543" and to day|strong="H3117", as heretofore|strong="H8032"?

Then the officers|strong="H7860" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" came|strong="H0935" and cried|strong="H6817" unto Pharaoh|strong="H6547", saying|strong="H0559", Wherefore dealest|strong="H6213" thou thus with thy servants|strong="H5650"?

There is no straw|strong="H8401" given|strong="H5414" unto thy servants|strong="H5650", and they say|strong="H0559" to us, Make|strong="H6213" brick|strong="H3843": and, behold, thy servants|strong="H5650" are beaten|strong="H5221"; but the fault|strong="H2398" is in thine own people|strong="H5971".

But he said|strong="H0559", Ye are idle|strong="H7503", ye are idle|strong="H7503": therefore ye say|strong="H0559", Let us go|strong="H3212" and do sacrifice|strong="H2076" to the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

Go|strong="H3212" therefore now, and work|strong="H5647"; for there shall no straw|strong="H8401" be given|strong="H5414" you, yet shall ye deliver|strong="H5414" the tale|strong="H8506" of bricks|strong="H3843".

And the officers|strong="H7860" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" did see|strong="H7200" that they were in evil|strong="H7451" case, after it was said|strong="H0559", Ye shall not minish|strong="H1639" ought from your bricks|strong="H3843" of your daily|strong="H3117" task|strong="H1697".

And they met|strong="H6293" Moses|strong="H4872" and Aaron|strong="H0175", who stood|strong="H5324" in the way|strong="H7125", as they came forth|strong="H3318" from Pharaoh|strong="H6547":

And they said|strong="H0559" unto them, The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* look|strong="H7200" upon you, and judge|strong="H8199"; because ye have made our savour|strong="H7381" to be abhorred|strong="H0887" in the eyes|strong="H5869" of Pharaoh|strong="H6547", and in the eyes|strong="H5869" of his servants|strong="H5650", to put|strong="H5414" a sword|strong="H2719" in their hand|strong="H3027" to slay|strong="H2026" us.

And Moses|strong="H4872" returned|strong="H7725" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and said|strong="H0559", Lord|strong="H0136", wherefore hast thou so evil entreated|strong="H7489" this people|strong="H5971"? why is it that thou hast sent|strong="H7971" me?

For since I came|strong="H0935" to Pharaoh|strong="H6547" to speak|strong="H1696" in thy name|strong="H8034", he hath done evil|strong="H7489" to this people|strong="H5971"; neither hast thou delivered|strong="H5337" thy people|strong="H5971" at all|strong="H5337".
