Eclesiastes 12

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

Remember|strong="H2142" now thy Creator|strong="H1254" in the days|strong="H3117" of thy youth|strong="H0979", while the evil|strong="H7451" days|strong="H3117" come|strong="H0935" not, nor the years|strong="H8141" draw nigh|strong="H5060", when thou shalt say|strong="H0559", I have no pleasure|strong="H2656" in them;

While the sun|strong="H8121", or the light|strong="H0216", or the moon|strong="H3394", or the stars|strong="H3556", be not darkened|strong="H2821", nor the clouds|strong="H5645" return|strong="H7725" after|strong="H0310" the rain|strong="H1653":

In the day|strong="H3117" when the keepers|strong="H8104" of the house|strong="H1004" shall tremble|strong="H2111", and the strong|strong="H2428" men|strong="H0582" shall bow|strong="H5791" themselves, and the grinders|strong="H2912" cease|strong="H0988" because they are few|strong="H4591", and those that look out|strong="H7200" of the windows|strong="H0699" be darkened|strong="H2821",

And the doors|strong="H1817" shall be shut|strong="H5462" in the streets|strong="H7784", when the sound|strong="H6963" of the grinding|strong="H2913" is low|strong="H8217", and he shall rise up|strong="H6965" at the voice|strong="H6963" of the bird|strong="H6833", and all the daughters|strong="H1323" of musick|strong="H7892" shall be brought low|strong="H7817";

Also when they shall be afraid|strong="H3372" of that which is high|strong="H1364", and fears|strong="H2849" shall be in the way|strong="H1870", and the almond tree|strong="H8247" shall flourish|strong="H5006", and the grasshopper|strong="H2284" shall be a burden|strong="H5445", and desire|strong="H0035" shall fail|strong="H6565": because man|strong="H0120" goeth|strong="H1980" to his long|strong="H5769" home|strong="H1004", and the mourners|strong="H5594" go about|strong="H5437" the streets|strong="H7784":

Or ever|strong="H3808" the silver|strong="H3701" cord|strong="H2256" be loosed|strong="H7576", or the golden|strong="H2091" bowl|strong="H1543" be broken|strong="H7533", or the pitcher|strong="H3537" be broken|strong="H7665" at the fountain|strong="H4002", or the wheel|strong="H1534" broken|strong="H7533" at the cistern|strong="H0953".

Then shall the dust|strong="H6083" return|strong="H7725" to the earth|strong="H0776" as it was: and the spirit|strong="H7307" shall return|strong="H7725" unto God|strong="H0430" who gave|strong="H5414" it.

Vanity|strong="H1892" of vanities|strong="H1892", saith|strong="H0559" the preacher|strong="H6953"; all is vanity|strong="H1892".

And moreover|strong="H3148", because the preacher|strong="H6953" was wise|strong="H2450", he still taught|strong="H3925" the people|strong="H5971" knowledge|strong="H1847"; yea, he gave good heed|strong="H0239", and sought out|strong="H2713", and set in order|strong="H8626" many|strong="H7235" proverbs|strong="H4912".

The preacher|strong="H6953" sought|strong="H1245" to find out|strong="H4672" acceptable|strong="H2656" words|strong="H1697": and that which was written|strong="H3789" was upright|strong="H3476", even words|strong="H1697" of truth|strong="H0571".

The words|strong="H1697" of the wise|strong="H2450" are as goads|strong="H1861", and as nails|strong="H4930" fastened|strong="H5193" by the masters|strong="H1167" of assemblies|strong="H0627", which are given|strong="H5414" from one|strong="H0259" shepherd|strong="H7462".

And further|strong="H3148", by these|strong="H1992", my son|strong="H1121", be admonished|strong="H2094": of making|strong="H6213" many|strong="H7235" books|strong="H5612" there is no end|strong="H7093"; and much|strong="H7235" study|strong="H3854" is a weariness|strong="H3024" of the flesh|strong="H1320".

Let us hear|strong="H8085" the conclusion|strong="H5490" of the whole matter|strong="H1697": Fear|strong="H3372" God|strong="H0430", and keep|strong="H8104" his commandments|strong="H4687": for this is the whole duty of man|strong="H0120".

For God|strong="H0430" shall bring|strong="H0935" every work|strong="H4639" into judgment|strong="H4941", with every secret thing|strong="H5956", whether it be good|strong="H2896", or whether it be evil|strong="H7451".
