2 Until|strong="G0891" the day|strong="G2250" in which|strong="G3739" he was taken up|strong="G0353", after that he|strong="G1781" through|strong="G1223" the|strong="G4151" Holy|strong="G0040" Ghost|strong="G4151" had given commandments|strong="G1781" unto the apostles|strong="G0652" whom|strong="G3739" he had chosen|strong="G1586":
3 To whom|strong="G3739" also|strong="G2532" he shewed|strong="G3936" himself|strong="G1438" alive|strong="G2198" after|strong="G3326" his|strong="G0846" passion|strong="G3958" by|strong="G1722" many|strong="G4183" infallible proofs|strong="G5039", being seen|strong="G3700" of|strong="G1223" them|strong="G0846" forty|strong="G5062" days|strong="G2250", and|strong="G2532" speaking|strong="G3004" of the things pertaining to|strong="G4012" the kingdom|strong="G0932" of God|strong="G2316":
4 And|strong="G2532", being assembled together|strong="G4871" with|strong="G3326" them, commanded|strong="G3853" them|strong="G0846" that they should|strong="G5563" not|strong="G3361" depart|strong="G5563" from|strong="G0575" Jerusalem|strong="G2414", \+w but|strong="G0235"\+w* \+w wait for|strong="G4037"\+w* \+w the promise|strong="G1860"\+w* \+w of the Father|strong="G3962"\+w*, \+w which|strong="G3739"\+w*, saith he, \+w ye have heard|strong="G0191"\+w* \+w of me|strong="G3450"\+w*.
5 \+w For|strong="G3754"\+w* \+w John|strong="G2491"\+w* \+w truly|strong="G3303"\+w* \+w baptized|strong="G0907"\+w* \+w with water|strong="G5204"\+w*; \+w but|strong="G1161"\+w* \+w ye|strong="G5210"\+w* \+w shall be baptized|strong="G0907"\+w* \+w with|strong="G1722"\+w* \+w the|strong="G4151"\+w* \+w Holy|strong="G0040"\+w* \+w Ghost|strong="G4151"\+w* \+w not|strong="G3756"\+w* \+w many|strong="G4183"\+w* \+w days|strong="G2250"\+w* \+w hence|strong="G3326"\+w*.
6 When they|strong="G4905" therefore|strong="G3767" were come together|strong="G4905", they asked|strong="G1905" of him|strong="G0846", saying|strong="G3004", Lord|strong="G2962", wilt|strong="G1487" thou|strong="G0600" at|strong="G1722" this|strong="G5129" time|strong="G5550" restore again|strong="G0600" the kingdom|strong="G0932" to Israel|strong="G2474"?
7 And|strong="G1161" he said|strong="G2036" unto|strong="G4314" them|strong="G0846", \+w It|strong="G1097"\+w* \+w is|strong="G2076"\+w* \+w not|strong="G3756"\+w* \+w for you|strong="G5216"\+w* \+w to know|strong="G1097"\+w* \+w the times|strong="G5550"\+w* \+w or|strong="G2228"\+w* \+w the seasons|strong="G2540"\+w*, \+w which|strong="G3739"\+w* \+w the Father|strong="G3962"\+w* \+w hath put|strong="G5087"\+w* \+w in|strong="G1722"\+w* \+w his own|strong="G2398"\+w* \+w power|strong="G1849"\+w*.
8 \+w But|strong="G0235"\+w* \+w ye shall receive|strong="G2983"\+w* \+w power|strong="G1411"\+w*, \+w after that|strong="G1904"\+w* \+w the|strong="G4151"\+w* \+w Holy|strong="G0040"\+w* \+w Ghost|strong="G4151"\+w* \+w is come|strong="G1904"\+w* \+w upon|strong="G1909"\+w* \+w you|strong="G5209"\+w*: \+w and|strong="G2532"\+w* \+w ye shall be|strong="G2071"\+w* \+w witnesses|strong="G3144"\+w* \+w unto me|strong="G3427"\+w* \+w both|strong="G5037"\+w* \+w in|strong="G1722"\+w* \+w Jerusalem|strong="G2419"\+w*, \+w and|strong="G2532"\+w* \+w in|strong="G1722"\+w* \+w all|strong="G3956"\+w* \+w Judæa|strong="G2449"\+w*, \+w and|strong="G2532"\+w* \+w in Samaria|strong="G4540"\+w*, \+w and|strong="G2532"\+w* \+w unto|strong="G2193"\+w* \+w the uttermost|strong="G2078"\+w* \+w part of the earth|strong="G1093"\+w*.
9 And|strong="G2532" when he had spoken|strong="G2036" these things|strong="G5023", while they beheld|strong="G0991", he|strong="G0846" was taken up|strong="G1869"; and|strong="G2532" a cloud|strong="G3507" received|strong="G5274" him|strong="G0846" out of|strong="G0575" their|strong="G0846" sight|strong="G3788".
10 And|strong="G2532" while|strong="G5613" they looked stedfastly|strong="G0816" toward|strong="G1519" heaven|strong="G3772" as|strong="G4198" he|strong="G0846" went up|strong="G4198", behold|strong="G2400", two|strong="G1417" men|strong="G0435" stood by|strong="G3936" them|strong="G0846" in|strong="G1722" white|strong="G3022" apparel|strong="G2066";
11 Which|strong="G3739" also|strong="G2532" said|strong="G2036", Ye men|strong="G0435" of Galilee|strong="G1057", why|strong="G5101" stand ye|strong="G2476" gazing up|strong="G1689" into|strong="G1519" heaven|strong="G3772"? this same|strong="G3778" Jesus|strong="G2424", which is taken up|strong="G0353" from|strong="G0575" you|strong="G5216" into|strong="G1519" heaven|strong="G3772", shall|strong="G2064" so|strong="G3779" come|strong="G2064" in like manner|strong="G5158" as|strong="G3739" ye have seen|strong="G2300" him|strong="G0846" go|strong="G4198" into|strong="G1519" heaven|strong="G3772".
12 Then|strong="G5119" returned they|strong="G5290" unto|strong="G1519" Jerusalem|strong="G2419" from|strong="G0575" the mount|strong="G3735" called|strong="G2564" Olivet|strong="G1638", which|strong="G3739" is|strong="G2076" from|strong="G1451" Jerusalem|strong="G2419" a sabbath day|strong="G4521"’s|strong="G2192" journey|strong="G3598".
13 And|strong="G2532" when|strong="G3753" they were|strong="G2258" come in|strong="G1525", they went up|strong="G0305" into|strong="G1519" an upper room|strong="G5253", where|strong="G3757" abode|strong="G2650" both|strong="G5037" Peter|strong="G4074", and|strong="G2532" James|strong="G2385", and|strong="G2532" John|strong="G2491", and|strong="G2532" Andrew|strong="G0406", Philip|strong="G5376", and|strong="G2532" Thomas|strong="G2381", Bartholomew|strong="G0918", and|strong="G2532" Matthew|strong="G3156", James|strong="G2385" the son of Alphaeus|strong="G0256", and|strong="G2532" Simon|strong="G4613" Zelotes|strong="G2207", and|strong="G2532" Judas|strong="G2455" the brother of James|strong="G2385".
14 These|strong="G3778" all|strong="G3956" continued|strong="G4342" with one accord|strong="G3661" in prayer|strong="G4335" and|strong="G2532" supplication|strong="G1162", with|strong="G4862" the women|strong="G1135", and|strong="G2532" Mary|strong="G3137" the mother|strong="G3384" of Jesus|strong="G2424", and|strong="G2532" with|strong="G4862" his|strong="G0846" brethren|strong="G0080".
15 And|strong="G2532" in|strong="G1722" those|strong="G3778" days|strong="G2250" Peter|strong="G4074" stood up|strong="G0450" in|strong="G1722" the midst|strong="G3319" of the disciples|strong="G3101", and|strong="G5037" said|strong="G2036", (the number|strong="G3793" of names|strong="G3686" together|strong="G1909" were|strong="G2258" about|strong="G5613" an hundred|strong="G1540" and twenty|strong="G1501",)
16 Men|strong="G0435" and brethren|strong="G0080", this|strong="G3778" scripture|strong="G1124" must needs|strong="G1163" have been fulfilled|strong="G4137", which|strong="G3739" the|strong="G4151" Holy|strong="G0040" Ghost|strong="G4151" by|strong="G1223" the mouth|strong="G4750" of David|strong="G1138" spake before|strong="G4277" concerning|strong="G4012" Judas|strong="G2455", which was|strong="G1096" guide|strong="G3595" to them that took|strong="G4815" Jesus|strong="G2424".
17 For|strong="G3754" he|strong="G2674" was|strong="G2258" numbered|strong="G2674" with|strong="G4862" us|strong="G2254", and|strong="G2532" had obtained|strong="G2975" part|strong="G2819" of this|strong="G3778" ministry|strong="G1248".
18 Now|strong="G3767" this man|strong="G3778" purchased|strong="G2932" a field|strong="G5564" with|strong="G1537" the reward|strong="G3408" of iniquity|strong="G0093"; and|strong="G2532" falling|strong="G1096" headlong|strong="G4248", he burst asunder|strong="G2997" in the midst|strong="G3319", and|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3956" his|strong="G0846" bowels|strong="G4698" gushed out|strong="G1632".
19 And|strong="G2532" it was|strong="G1096" known|strong="G1110" unto all|strong="G3956" the dwellers|strong="G2730" at Jerusalem|strong="G2419"; insomuch as|strong="G5620" that|strong="G1565" field|strong="G5564" is called|strong="G2564" in their|strong="G0846" proper|strong="G2398" tongue|strong="G1258", Aceldama|strong="G0184", that|strong="G5124" is to say|strong="G2076", The field|strong="G5564" of blood|strong="G0129".
20 For|strong="G1063" it is written|strong="G1125" in|strong="G1722" the book|strong="G0976" of Psalms|strong="G5568", Let|strong="G1096" his|strong="G0846" habitation|strong="G1886" be|strong="G1096" desolate|strong="G2048", and|strong="G2532" let|strong="G2077" no|strong="G3361" man dwell|strong="G2730" therein|strong="G1722": and|strong="G2532" his|strong="G0846" bishoprick|strong="G1984" let|strong="G2983" another|strong="G2087" take|strong="G2983".
21 Wherefore|strong="G3767" of these men|strong="G0435" which|strong="G3588" have companied|strong="G4905" with us|strong="G2254" all|strong="G3956" the time|strong="G5550" that|strong="G3739" the Lord|strong="G2962" Jesus|strong="G2424" went in|strong="G1525" and|strong="G2532" out|strong="G1831" among|strong="G1909" us|strong="G2248",
22 Beginning|strong="G0756" from|strong="G0575" the baptism|strong="G0908" of John|strong="G2491", unto|strong="G2193" that same|strong="G3739" day|strong="G2250" that|strong="G3739" he was taken up|strong="G0353" from|strong="G0575" us|strong="G2257", must|strong="G1096" one|strong="G1520" be ordained to be|strong="G1096" a witness|strong="G3144" with|strong="G4862" us|strong="G2254" of his|strong="G0846" resurrection|strong="G0386".
23 And|strong="G2532" they appointed|strong="G2476" two|strong="G1417", Joseph|strong="G2501" called|strong="G2564" Barsabas|strong="G0923", who|strong="G3739" was surnamed|strong="G1941" Justus|strong="G2459", and|strong="G2532" Matthias|strong="G3159".
24 And|strong="G2532" they prayed|strong="G4336", and|strong="G2532" said|strong="G2036", Thou|strong="G4771", Lord|strong="G2962", which knowest the hearts|strong="G2589" of all|strong="G3956" men, shew|strong="G0322" whether|strong="G3739" of|strong="G1537" these|strong="G5130" two|strong="G1417" thou hast chosen|strong="G1586",
25 That he may take|strong="G2983" part|strong="G2819" of this|strong="G3778" ministry|strong="G1248" and|strong="G2532" apostleship|strong="G0651", from|strong="G1537" which|strong="G3739" Judas|strong="G2455" by transgression|strong="G3845" fell, that he might go|strong="G4198" to|strong="G1519" his own|strong="G2398" place|strong="G5117".
26 And|strong="G2532" they gave forth|strong="G1325" their|strong="G0846" lots|strong="G2819"; and|strong="G2532" the lot|strong="G2819" fell|strong="G4098" upon|strong="G1909" Matthias|strong="G3159"; and|strong="G2532" he was numbered|strong="G4785" with|strong="G3326" the eleven|strong="G1733" apostles|strong="G0652".
