In the six|strong="H8337" and thirtieth|strong="H7970" year|strong="H8141" of the reign|strong="H4438" of Asa|strong="H0609" Baasha|strong="H1201" king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" came up|strong="H5927" against Judah|strong="H3063", and built|strong="H1129" Ramah|strong="H7414", to the intent that|strong="H1115" he might let|strong="H5414" none go out|strong="H3318" or come in|strong="H0935" to Asa|strong="H0609" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063".
Then Asa|strong="H0609" brought out|strong="H3318" silver|strong="H3701" and gold|strong="H2091" out of the treasures|strong="H0214" of the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* and of the king’s|strong="H4428" house|strong="H1004", and sent|strong="H7971" to Ben-hadad|strong="H1130" king|strong="H4428" of Syria|strong="H0758", that dwelt|strong="H3427" at Damascus|strong="H1834", saying|strong="H0559",
There is a league|strong="H1285" between me and thee, as there was between my father|strong="H0001" and thy father|strong="H0001": behold, I have sent|strong="H7971" thee silver|strong="H3701" and gold|strong="H2091"; go|strong="H3212", break|strong="H6565" thy league|strong="H1285" with Baasha|strong="H1201" king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478", that he may depart|strong="H5927" from me.
And Ben-hadad|strong="H1130" hearkened|strong="H8085" unto king|strong="H4428" Asa|strong="H0609", and sent|strong="H7971" the captains|strong="H8269" of his armies|strong="H2428" against the cities|strong="H5892" of Israel|strong="H3478"; and they smote|strong="H5221" Ijon|strong="H5859", and Dan|strong="H1835", and Abel-maim|strong="H0066", and all the store|strong="H4543" cities|strong="H5892" of Naphtali|strong="H5321".
And it came to pass, when Baasha|strong="H1201" heard|strong="H8085" it, that he left off|strong="H2308" building|strong="H1129" of Ramah|strong="H7414", and let his work|strong="H4399" cease|strong="H7673".
Then Asa|strong="H0609" the king|strong="H4428" took|strong="H3947" all Judah|strong="H3063"; and they carried away|strong="H5375" the stones|strong="H0068" of Ramah|strong="H7414", and the timber|strong="H6086" thereof, wherewith Baasha|strong="H1201" was building|strong="H1129"; and he built|strong="H1129" therewith Geba|strong="H1387" and Mizpah|strong="H4709".
And at that time|strong="H6256" Hanani|strong="H2607" the seer|strong="H7200" came|strong="H0935" to Asa|strong="H0609" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063", and said|strong="H0559" unto him, Because thou hast relied|strong="H8172" on the king|strong="H4428" of Syria|strong="H0758", and not relied|strong="H8172" on the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430", therefore is the host|strong="H2428" of the king|strong="H4428" of Syria|strong="H0758" escaped|strong="H4422" out of thine hand|strong="H3027".
Were not the Ethiopians|strong="H3569" and the Lubims|strong="H3864" a huge|strong="H7230" host|strong="H2428", with very|strong="H3966" many|strong="H7235" chariots|strong="H7393" and horsemen|strong="H6571"? yet, because thou didst rely|strong="H8172" on the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, he delivered|strong="H5414" them into thine hand|strong="H3027".
For the eyes|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* run to and fro|strong="H7751" throughout the whole earth|strong="H0776", to shew himself strong|strong="H2388" in the behalf of them whose heart|strong="H3824" is perfect|strong="H8003" toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly|strong="H5528": therefore from henceforth|strong="H6258" thou shalt have|strong="H3426" wars|strong="H4421".
Then Asa|strong="H0609" was wroth|strong="H3707" with the seer|strong="H7200", and put|strong="H5414" him in a prison|strong="H4115" house|strong="H1004"; for he was in a rage|strong="H2197" with him because of this thing. And Asa|strong="H0609" oppressed|strong="H7533" some of the people|strong="H5971" the same time|strong="H6256".
And, behold, the acts|strong="H1697" of Asa|strong="H0609", first|strong="H7223" and last|strong="H0314", lo, they are written|strong="H3789" in the book|strong="H5612" of the kings|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" and Israel|strong="H3478".
And Asa|strong="H0609" in the thirty|strong="H7970" and ninth|strong="H8672" year|strong="H8141" of his reign|strong="H4438" was diseased|strong="H2456" in his feet|strong="H7272", until his disease|strong="H2483" was exceeding|strong="H4605" great: yet in his disease|strong="H2483" he sought|strong="H1875" not to the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, but to the physicians|strong="H7495".
And Asa|strong="H0609" slept|strong="H7901" with his fathers|strong="H0001", and died|strong="H4191" in the one|strong="H0259" and fortieth|strong="H0705" year|strong="H8141" of his reign|strong="H4427".
And they buried|strong="H6912" him in his own sepulchres|strong="H6913", which he had made|strong="H3738" for himself in the city|strong="H5892" of David|strong="H1732", and laid|strong="H7901" him in the bed|strong="H4904" which was filled|strong="H4390" with sweet odours|strong="H1314" and divers kinds|strong="H2177" of spices prepared|strong="H7543" by the apothecaries’|strong="H4842" art|strong="H4639": and they made|strong="H8313" a very|strong="H3966" great|strong="H1419" burning|strong="H8316" for him.
