Samuel 10

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

Then Samuel|strong="H8050" took|strong="H3947" a vial|strong="H6378" of oil|strong="H8081", and poured|strong="H3332" it upon his head|strong="H7218", and kissed|strong="H5401" him, and said|strong="H0559", Is it not because the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath anointed|strong="H4886" thee to be captain|strong="H5057" over his inheritance|strong="H5159"?

When thou art departed|strong="H3212" from me|strong="H5978" to day|strong="H3117", then thou shalt find|strong="H4672" two|strong="H8147" men|strong="H0582" by Rachel’s|strong="H7354" sepulchre|strong="H6900" in the border|strong="H1366" of Benjamin|strong="H1144" at Zelzah|strong="H6766"; and they will say|strong="H0559" unto thee, The asses|strong="H0860" which thou wentest|strong="H1980" to seek|strong="H1245" are found|strong="H4672": and, lo, thy father|strong="H0001" hath left|strong="H5203" the care|strong="H1697" of the asses|strong="H0860", and sorroweth|strong="H1672" for you, saying|strong="H0559", What shall I do|strong="H6213" for my son|strong="H1121"?

Then shalt thou go on|strong="H2498" forward|strong="H1973" from thence, and thou shalt come|strong="H0935" to the plain|strong="H0436" of Tabor|strong="H8396", and there shall meet|strong="H4672" thee three|strong="H7969" men|strong="H0582" going up|strong="H5927" to God|strong="H0430" to Beth-el|strong="H1008", one|strong="H0259" carrying|strong="H5375" three|strong="H7969" kids|strong="H1423", and another|strong="H0259" carrying|strong="H5375" three|strong="H7969" loaves|strong="H3603" of bread|strong="H3899", and another|strong="H0259" carrying|strong="H5375" a bottle|strong="H5035" of wine|strong="H3196":

And they will|strong="H7592" salute|strong="H7965" thee, and give|strong="H5414" thee two|strong="H8147" loaves of bread|strong="H3899"; which thou shalt receive|strong="H3947" of their hands|strong="H3027".

After|strong="H0310" that thou shalt come|strong="H0935" to the hill|strong="H1389" of God|strong="H0430", where is the garrison|strong="H5333" of the Philistines|strong="H6430": and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thither|strong="H0935" to the city|strong="H5892", that thou shalt meet|strong="H6293" a company|strong="H2256" of prophets|strong="H5030" coming down|strong="H3381" from the high place|strong="H1116" with a psaltery|strong="H5035", and a tabret|strong="H8596", and a pipe|strong="H2485", and a harp|strong="H3658", before|strong="H6440" them; and they shall prophesy|strong="H5012":

And the Spirit|strong="H7307" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* will come|strong="H6743" upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy|strong="H5012" with them, and shalt be turned|strong="H2015" into another|strong="H0312" man|strong="H0376".

And let it be, when these signs|strong="H0226" are come|strong="H0935" unto thee, that thou do|strong="H6213" as occasion|strong="H4672" serve|strong="H3027" thee; for God|strong="H0430" is with thee.

And thou shalt go down|strong="H3381" before|strong="H6440" me to Gilgal|strong="H1537"; and, behold, I will come down|strong="H3381" unto thee, to offer|strong="H5927" burnt offerings|strong="H5930", and to sacrifice|strong="H2076" sacrifices|strong="H2077" of peace offerings|strong="H8002": seven|strong="H7651" days|strong="H3117" shalt thou tarry|strong="H3176", till I come|strong="H0935" to thee, and shew|strong="H3045" thee what thou shalt do|strong="H6213".

And it was so, that when he had turned|strong="H6437" his back|strong="H7926" to go|strong="H3212" from Samuel|strong="H8050", God|strong="H0430" gave|strong="H2015" him another|strong="H0312" heart|strong="H3820": and all those signs|strong="H0226" came|strong="H0935" to pass that day|strong="H3117".

And when they came|strong="H0935" thither to the hill|strong="H1389", behold, a company|strong="H2256" of prophets|strong="H5030" met|strong="H7125" him; and the Spirit|strong="H7307" of God|strong="H0430" came|strong="H6743" upon him, and he prophesied|strong="H5012" among|strong="H8432" them.

And it came to pass, when all that knew|strong="H3045" him beforetime|strong="H0865" saw|strong="H7200" that, behold, he prophesied|strong="H5012" among the prophets|strong="H5030", then the people|strong="H5971" said|strong="H0559" one|strong="H0376" to another|strong="H7453", What is this that is come unto the son|strong="H1121" of Kish|strong="H7027"? Is Saul|strong="H7586" also among the prophets|strong="H5030"?

And one|strong="H0376" of the same place answered|strong="H6030" and said|strong="H0559", But who is their father|strong="H0001"? Therefore it became a proverb|strong="H4912", Is Saul|strong="H7586" also among the prophets|strong="H5030"?

And when he had made an end|strong="H3615" of prophesying|strong="H5012", he came|strong="H0935" to the high place|strong="H1116".

And Saul’s|strong="H7586" uncle|strong="H1730" said|strong="H0559" unto him and to his servant|strong="H5288", Whither|strong="H0575" went|strong="H1980" ye? And he said|strong="H0559", To seek|strong="H1245" the asses|strong="H0860": and when we saw|strong="H7200" that they were no where|strong="H0369", we came|strong="H0935" to Samuel|strong="H8050".

And Saul’s|strong="H7586" uncle|strong="H1730" said|strong="H0559", Tell|strong="H5046" me, I pray thee, what Samuel|strong="H8050" said|strong="H0559" unto you.

And Saul|strong="H7586" said|strong="H0559" unto his uncle|strong="H1730", He told|strong="H5046" us plainly|strong="H5046" that the asses|strong="H0860" were found|strong="H4672". But of the matter|strong="H1697" of the kingdom|strong="H4410", whereof Samuel|strong="H8050" spake|strong="H0559", he told|strong="H5046" him not.

And Samuel|strong="H8050" called|strong="H6817" the people|strong="H5971" together unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* to Mizpeh|strong="H4709";

And said|strong="H0559" unto the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", I brought up|strong="H5927" Israel|strong="H3478" out of Egypt|strong="H4714", and delivered|strong="H5337" you out of the hand|strong="H3027" of the Egyptians|strong="H4714", and out of the hand|strong="H3027" of all kingdoms|strong="H4467", and of them that oppressed|strong="H3905" you:

And ye have this day|strong="H3117" rejected|strong="H3988" your God|strong="H0430", who himself saved|strong="H3467" you out of all your adversities|strong="H7451" and your tribulations|strong="H6869"; and ye have said|strong="H0559" unto him, Nay, but set|strong="H7760" a king|strong="H4428" over us. Now therefore present|strong="H3320" yourselves before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* by your tribes|strong="H7626", and by your thousands|strong="H0505".

And when Samuel|strong="H8050" had caused all the tribes|strong="H7626" of Israel|strong="H3478" to come near|strong="H7126", the tribe|strong="H7626" of Benjamin|strong="H1144" was taken|strong="H3920".

When he had caused the tribe|strong="H7626" of Benjamin|strong="H1144" to come near|strong="H7126" by their families|strong="H4940", the family|strong="H4940" of Matri|strong="H4309" was taken|strong="H3920", and Saul|strong="H7586" the son|strong="H1121" of Kish|strong="H7027" was taken|strong="H3920": and when they sought|strong="H1245" him, he could not be found|strong="H4672".

Therefore they enquired|strong="H7592" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* further, if the man|strong="H0376" should yet come|strong="H0935" thither|strong="H1988". And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* answered|strong="H0559", Behold, he hath hid|strong="H2244" himself among the stuff|strong="H3627".

And they ran|strong="H7323" and fetched|strong="H3947" him thence: and when he stood|strong="H3320" among|strong="H8432" the people|strong="H5971", he was higher|strong="H1361" than any of the people|strong="H5971" from his shoulders|strong="H7926" and upward|strong="H4605".

And Samuel|strong="H8050" said|strong="H0559" to all the people|strong="H5971", See|strong="H7200" ye him whom the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath chosen|strong="H0977", that there is none like him among all the people|strong="H5971"? And all the people|strong="H5971" shouted|strong="H7321", and said|strong="H0559", God save|strong="H2421" the king|strong="H4428".

Then Samuel|strong="H8050" told|strong="H1696" the people|strong="H5971" the manner|strong="H4941" of the kingdom|strong="H4410", and wrote|strong="H3789" it in a book|strong="H5612", and laid it up|strong="H3240" before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*. And Samuel|strong="H8050" sent|strong="H7971" all the people|strong="H5971" away|strong="H7971", every man|strong="H0376" to his house|strong="H1004".

And Saul|strong="H7586" also went|strong="H1980" home|strong="H1004" to Gibeah|strong="H1390"; and there went|strong="H3212" with him a band of men|strong="H2428", whose hearts|strong="H3820" God|strong="H0430" had touched|strong="H5060".

But the children|strong="H1121" of Belial|strong="H1100" said|strong="H0559", How shall this man save|strong="H3467" us? And they despised|strong="H0959" him, and brought|strong="H0935" him no presents|strong="H4503". But he held his peace|strong="H2790".
