1 Beloved|strong="G0027", believe|strong="G4100" not|strong="G3361" every|strong="G3956" spirit|strong="G4151", but|strong="G0235" try|strong="G1381" the spirits|strong="G4151" whether|strong="G1487" they are|strong="G2076" of|strong="G1537" God|strong="G2316": because|strong="G3754" many|strong="G4183" false prophets|strong="G5578" are gone out|strong="G1831" into|strong="G1519" the world|strong="G2889".
2 Hereby|strong="G1722" know ye|strong="G1097" the Spirit|strong="G4151" of God|strong="G2316": Every|strong="G3956" spirit|strong="G4151" that|strong="G3739" confesseth that|strong="G3670" Jesus|strong="G2424" Christ|strong="G5547" is come|strong="G2064" in|strong="G1722" the flesh|strong="G4561" is|strong="G2076" of|strong="G1537" God|strong="G2316":
3 And|strong="G2532" every|strong="G3956" spirit|strong="G4151" that|strong="G3739" confesseth|strong="G3670" not|strong="G3361" that Jesus|strong="G2424" Christ|strong="G5547" is come|strong="G2064" in|strong="G1722" the flesh|strong="G4561" is|strong="G2076" not|strong="G3756" of|strong="G1537" God|strong="G2316": and|strong="G2532" this|strong="G5124" is|strong="G2076" that|strong="G3588" spirit of antichrist|strong="G0500", whereof|strong="G3739" ye have heard|strong="G0191" that|strong="G3754" it should come|strong="G2064"; and|strong="G2532" even now|strong="G3568" already|strong="G2235" is it|strong="G2076" in|strong="G1722" the world|strong="G2889".
4 Ye|strong="G5210" are|strong="G2075" of|strong="G1537" God|strong="G2316", little children|strong="G5040", and|strong="G2532" have overcome|strong="G3528" them|strong="G0846": because|strong="G3754" greater|strong="G3187" is he|strong="G2076" that|strong="G3588" is in|strong="G1722" you|strong="G5213", than|strong="G2228" he that|strong="G3588" is in|strong="G1722" the world|strong="G2889".
5 They|strong="G0846" are|strong="G1526" of|strong="G1537" the world|strong="G2889": therefore|strong="G1223" speak they|strong="G2980" of|strong="G1537" the world|strong="G2889", and|strong="G2532" the world|strong="G2889" heareth|strong="G0191" them|strong="G0846".
6 We|strong="G2249" are|strong="G2070" of|strong="G1537" God|strong="G2316": he that knoweth|strong="G1097" God|strong="G2316" heareth|strong="G0191" us|strong="G2257"; he that|strong="G3739" is|strong="G2076" not|strong="G3756" of|strong="G1537" God|strong="G2316" heareth|strong="G0191" not|strong="G3756" us|strong="G2257". Hereby|strong="G1537" know we|strong="G1097" the spirit|strong="G4151" of truth|strong="G0225", and|strong="G2532" the spirit|strong="G4151" of error|strong="G4106".
7 Beloved|strong="G0027", let us love|strong="G0025" one another|strong="G0240": for|strong="G3754" love|strong="G0026" is|strong="G2076" of|strong="G1537" God|strong="G2316"; and|strong="G2532" every one|strong="G3956" that|strong="G3588" loveth|strong="G0025" is born|strong="G1080" of|strong="G1537" God|strong="G2316", and|strong="G2532" knoweth|strong="G1097" God|strong="G2316".
8 He that loveth|strong="G0025" not|strong="G3361" knoweth|strong="G1097" not|strong="G3756" God|strong="G2316"; for|strong="G3754" God|strong="G2316" is|strong="G2076" love|strong="G0026".
9 In|strong="G1722" this|strong="G5129" was manifested|strong="G5319" the love|strong="G0026" of God|strong="G2316" toward|strong="G1722" us|strong="G2254", because that|strong="G3754" God|strong="G2316" sent|strong="G0649" his|strong="G0846" only begotten|strong="G3439" Son|strong="G5207" into|strong="G1519" the world|strong="G2889", that|strong="G2443" we might live|strong="G2198" through|strong="G1223" him|strong="G0846".
10 Herein|strong="G1722" is|strong="G2076" love|strong="G0026", not|strong="G3756" that|strong="G3754" we|strong="G2249" loved|strong="G0025" God|strong="G2316", but|strong="G0235" that|strong="G3754" he|strong="G0846" loved|strong="G0025" us|strong="G2248", and|strong="G2532" sent|strong="G0649" his|strong="G0846" Son|strong="G5207" to be the propitiation|strong="G2434" for|strong="G4012" our|strong="G2257" sins|strong="G0266".
11 Beloved|strong="G0027", if|strong="G1487" God|strong="G2316" so|strong="G3779" loved|strong="G0025" us|strong="G2248", we|strong="G2249" ought|strong="G3784" also|strong="G2532" to love|strong="G0025" one another|strong="G0240".
12 No man|strong="G3762" hath seen|strong="G2300" God|strong="G2316" at any time|strong="G4455". If|strong="G1437" we love|strong="G0025" one another|strong="G0240", God|strong="G2316" dwelleth|strong="G3306" in|strong="G1722" us|strong="G2254", and|strong="G2532" his|strong="G0846" love|strong="G0026" is|strong="G2076" perfected|strong="G5048" in|strong="G1722" us|strong="G2254".
13 Hereby|strong="G1722" know we|strong="G1097" that|strong="G3754" we dwell|strong="G3306" in|strong="G1722" him|strong="G0846", and|strong="G2532" he|strong="G0846" in|strong="G1722" us|strong="G2254", because|strong="G3754" he hath given|strong="G1325" us|strong="G2254" of|strong="G1537" his|strong="G0846" Spirit|strong="G4151".
14 And|strong="G2532" we|strong="G2249" have seen|strong="G2300" and|strong="G2532" do testify|strong="G3140" that|strong="G3754" the Father|strong="G3962" sent|strong="G0649" the Son|strong="G5207" to be the Saviour|strong="G4990" of the world|strong="G2889".
15 Whosoever|strong="G3739" shall confess|strong="G3670" that|strong="G3754" Jesus|strong="G2424" is|strong="G2076" the Son|strong="G5207" of God|strong="G2316", God|strong="G2316" dwelleth|strong="G3306" in|strong="G1722" him|strong="G0846", and|strong="G2532" he|strong="G0846" in|strong="G1722" God|strong="G2316".
16 And|strong="G2532" we|strong="G2249" have known|strong="G1097" and|strong="G2532" believed|strong="G4100" the love|strong="G0026" that|strong="G3739" God|strong="G2316" hath|strong="G2192" to|strong="G1722" us|strong="G2254". God|strong="G2316" is|strong="G2076" love|strong="G0026"; and|strong="G2532" he that dwelleth|strong="G3306" in|strong="G1722" love|strong="G0026" dwelleth|strong="G3306" in|strong="G1722" God|strong="G2316", and|strong="G2532" God|strong="G2316" in|strong="G1722" him|strong="G0846".
17 Herein|strong="G1722" is|strong="G5048" our|strong="G3326" love|strong="G0026" made perfect|strong="G5048", that|strong="G2443" we may have|strong="G2192" boldness|strong="G3954" in|strong="G1722" the day|strong="G2250" of judgment|strong="G2920": because|strong="G3754" as|strong="G2531" he|strong="G1565" is|strong="G2076", so|strong="G2532" are|strong="G2070" we|strong="G2249" in|strong="G1722" this|strong="G5129" world|strong="G2889".
18 There is|strong="G2076" no|strong="G3756" fear|strong="G5401" in|strong="G1722" love|strong="G0026"; but|strong="G0235" perfect|strong="G5046" love|strong="G0026" casteth|strong="G0906" out|strong="G1854" fear|strong="G5401": because|strong="G3754" fear|strong="G5401" hath|strong="G2192" torment|strong="G2851". He that feareth|strong="G5399" is|strong="G5048" not|strong="G3756" made perfect|strong="G5048" in|strong="G1722" love|strong="G0026".
19 We|strong="G2249" love|strong="G0025" him|strong="G0846", because|strong="G3754" he|strong="G0846" first|strong="G4413" loved|strong="G0025" us|strong="G2248".
20 If|strong="G1437" a man|strong="G5100" say|strong="G2036", I love|strong="G0025" God|strong="G2316", and|strong="G2532" hateth|strong="G3404" his|strong="G0846" brother|strong="G0080", he is|strong="G2076" a liar|strong="G5583": for|strong="G1063" he that loveth|strong="G0025" not|strong="G3361" his|strong="G0846" brother|strong="G0080" whom|strong="G3739" he hath seen|strong="G3708", how|strong="G4459" can|strong="G1410" he love|strong="G0025" God|strong="G2316" whom|strong="G3739" he hath|strong="G3708" not|strong="G3756" seen|strong="G3708"?
21 And|strong="G2532" this|strong="G3778" commandment|strong="G1785" have we|strong="G2192" from|strong="G0575" him|strong="G0846", That|strong="G2443" he who loveth|strong="G0025" God|strong="G2316" love|strong="G0025" his|strong="G0846" brother|strong="G0080" also|strong="G2532".
