1 As the morning passeth, so hath the king of Israel Israel was a child, and I loved him: and I called my son out of Egypt.
1 A respeito do povo de Israel, o Senhor Deus diz: “Quando Israel era criança, eu já o amava e chamei o meu filho, que estava na terra do Egito.
2 As they called them, they went away from before their face: they offered victims to Baalim, and sacrificed to idols.
2 Porém, quanto mais eu o chamava, mais ele se afastava de mim. O meu povo ofereceu e queimou incenso em honra dos ídolos.
3 And I was like a foster father to Ephraim, I carried them in my arms: and they knew not that I healed them.
3 Mas fui eu que ensinei o meu povo a andar; eu os segurei nos meus braços, porém eles não sabiam que era eu que cuidava deles.
4 I will draw them with the cords of Adam, with the bands of love : and I will be to them as one that taketh off the yoke on their jaws: and I put his meat to him that he might eat.
4 Com laços de amor e de carinho, eu os trouxe para perto de mim; eu os segurei nos braços como quem pega uma criança no colo. Eu me inclinei e lhes dei de comer.”
5 He shall not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king: because they would not be converted.
5 — Eles não querem voltar para mim e por isso irão de novo para o Egito e serão conquistados pela Assíria.
6 The sword hath begun in his cities, and it shall consume his chosen men, and sha.ll devour their heads.
6 Virá a guerra, e os inimigos arrombarão os portões das cidades e as arrasarão. O meu povo será morto por seguir maus conselhos.
7 And my people shall long for my return: but a yoke shall be put upon them together, which shall not be taken off.
7 O meu povo teima em se revoltar contra mim; por isso, eles serão levados como prisioneiros pelo inimigo, e ninguém poderá salvá-los.
8 How shall I deal with thee, O Ephraim, shall I protect thee, O Israel? how shall I make thee as Adama, shall I set thee as Seboim? my heart is turned within me, my repentance is stirred up.
8 “Israel, como poderia eu abandoná-lo? Como poderia desampará-lo? Será que eu o destruiria, como destruí Admá? Ou faria com você o que fiz com Zeboim ? Não! Não posso fazer isso, pois o meu coração está comovido, e tenho muita compaixão de você.
9 I will not execute the fierceness of my wrath: I will not return to destroy Ephraim: because I am God, and not man: the holy one in the midst of thee, and I will not enter into the city.
9 Não deixarei que a ira me domine, não destruirei o meu povo outra vez. Pois eu sou Deus e não um ser humano; eu, o Santo Deus, estou no meio do meu povo e não o destruirei novamente.”
10 They shall walk after the Lord, he shall roar as a lion: because he shall roar, and the children of the sea shall fear.
10 — Quando eu rugir como leão contra os inimigos, o meu povo me seguirá. O meu povo virá correndo do oeste;
11 And they shall fly away like a bird out of Egypt, and like a dove out of the land of the Assyrians: and I will place them in their own houses, saith the Lord.
11 como pássaros, eles virão depressa do Egito e como pombas virão da Assíria. Eu os farei morar de novo na sua terra. Eu, o Senhor , estou falando.
12 Ephraim hath compassed me about with denials, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Juda went down as a witness with God, and is faithful with the saints.
12 O Senhor Deus diz: — O povo de Israel me cerca com mentiras e falsidades, e o povo de Judá se revolta contra mim, o Santo Deus, que sou sempre fiel.
