1 The word that came to Jeremias, concerning all the Jews that dwelt in the land of Egypt, dwelling in Magdal, and in Taphnis, and in Memphis, and in the land of Phatures, saying:
1 A palavra que veio a Jeremias, acerca de todos os judeus, habitantes da terra do Egito, que habitavam em Migdol, e em Tafnes, e em Nofe, e na terra de Patros, dizendo:
2 Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: You have seen all this evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Juda: and behold they are desolate this day, and there is not an inhabitant in them:
2 Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Vós vistes todo o mal que fiz vir sobre Jerusalém, e sobre todas as cidades de Judá; e eis que elas são hoje uma desolação, e ninguém habita nelas;
3 Because of the wickedness which they have committed, to provoke me to wrath, and to go and offer sacrifice, and worship other gods, which neither they, nor you, nor your fathers knew.
3 Por causa da maldade que fizeram, para me irarem, indo queimar incenso, e servir a deuses estranhos, que nunca conheceram, nem eles, nem vós, nem vossos pais.
4 And I sent to you all my servants the prophets, rising early, and sending, and saying: Do not commit this abominable thing, which I hate.
4 E eu vos enviei todos os meus servos, os profetas, madrugando e enviando a dizer: Ora, não façais esta coisa abominável que odeio.
5 But they heard not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their evil ways, and not to sacrifice to strange gods.
5 Mas eles não escutaram, nem inclinaram os seus ouvidos, para se converterem da sua maldade, para não queimarem incenso a outros deuses.
6 Wherefore my indignation and my fury was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Juda, and in the streets of Jerusalem: and they are turned to desolation and waste, as at this day.
6 Derramou-se, pois, a minha indignação e a minha ira, e acendeu-se nas cidades de Judá, e nas ruas de Jerusalém, e elas tornaram-se em deserto e em desolação, como hoje se vê.
7 And now thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Why do you commit this great evil against your own souls, that there should die of you man and woman, child and suckling out of the midst of Juda, and no remnant should be left you:
7 Agora, pois, assim diz o Senhor, Deus dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Por que fazeis vós tão grande mal contra as vossas almas, para vos desarraigardes, ao homem e à mulher, à criança e ao que mama, do meio de Judá, a fim de não deixardes remanescente algum;
8 In that you provoke me to wrath with the works of your hands, by sacrificing to other gods in the land of Egypt, into which you are come to dwell there: and that you should perish, and be a curse, and a reproach to all the nations of the earth?
8 Irando-me com as obras de vossas mãos, queimando incenso a deuses estranhos na terra do Egito, aonde vós entrastes para lá habitar; para que a vós mesmos vos desarraigueis, e para que sirvais de maldição, e de opróbrio entre todas as nações da terra?
9 Have you forgotten the evils of your fathers, and the evils of the kings of Juda, and the evils of their wives, and your evils, and the evils of your wives, that they have done in the land of Juda, and in the streets of Jerusalem?
9 Esquecestes já as maldades de vossos pais, e as maldades dos reis de Judá, e as maldades de suas mulheres, e as vossas maldades, e as maldades de vossas mulheres, que cometeram na terra de Judá, e nas ruas de Jerusalém?
10 They are not cleansed even to this day: neither have they feared, nor walked in the law of the Lord, nor in my commandments, which I set before you and your fathers.
10 Não se humilharam até ao dia de hoje, nem temeram, nem andaram na minha lei, nem nos meus estatutos, que pus diante de vós e diante de vossos pais.
11 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Behold I will set my face upon you for evil: and I will destroy all Juda.
11 Portanto assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Eis que eu ponho o meu rosto contra vós para mal, e para desarraigar a todo o Judá.
12 And I will take the remnant of Juda that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt, and to dwell there: and they shall be all consumed in the land of Egypt: they shall fall by the sword, and by the famine: and they shall be consumed from the least even to the greatest, by the sword, and by the famine shall they die: and they shall be for an execration, and for a wonder, and for a curse, and for a reproach.
12 E tomarei os que restam de Judá, os quais puseram os seus rostos para entrarem na terra do Egito, para lá habitar e todos eles serão consumidos na terra do Egito; cairão à espada, e de fome morrerão; consumir-se-ão, desde o menor até ao maior; à espada e de fome morrerão; e servirão de execração, e de espanto, e de maldição, e de opróbrio.
13 And I will visit them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have visited Jerusalem by the sword, and by famine, and by pestilence.
13 Porque castigarei os que habitam na terra do Egito, como castiguei Jerusalém, com a espada, com a fome e com a peste.
14 And there shall be none that shall escape, and remain of the remnant of the Jews that are gone to sojourn in the land of Egypt: and that shall return into the land of Juda, to which they have a desire to return to dwell there: there shall none return but they that shall flee.
14 De maneira que da parte remanescente de Judá, que entrou na terra do Egito, para lá habitar, não haverá quem escape e fique para tornar à terra de Judá, à qual eles suspiram voltar para nela morar; porém não tornarão senão uns fugitivos.
15 Then all the men that knew that their wives sacrificed to other gods: and all the women of whom there stood by a great multitude, and all the people of them that dwelt in the land of Egypt in Phatures, answered Jeremias, saying:
15 Então responderam a Jeremias todos os homens que sabiam que suas mulheres queimavam incenso a deuses estranhos, e todas as mulheres que estavam presentes em grande multidão, como também todo o povo que habitava na terra do Egito, em Patros, dizendo:
16 As for the word which thou hast spoken to us in the name of the Lord, we will not hearken to thee:
16 Quanto à palavra que nos anunciaste em nome do Senhor, não obedeceremos a ti;
17 But we will certainly do every word that shall proceed out of our own mouth, to sacrifice to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we and our fathers have done, our kings, and our princes in the cities of Juda, and in the streets of Jerusalem: and we were filled with bread, and it was well with us, and we saw no evil.
17 Mas certamente cumpriremos toda a palavra que saiu da nossa boca, queimando incenso à rainha dos céus, e oferecendo-lhe libações, como nós e nossos pais, nossos reis e nossos príncipes, temos feito, nas cidades de Judá, e nas ruas de Jerusalém; e então tínhamos fartura de pão, e andávamos alegres, e não víamos mal algum.
18 But since we left off to offer sacrifice to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword, and by famine.
18 Mas desde que cessamos de queimar incenso à rainha dos céus, e de lhe oferecer libações, tivemos falta de tudo, e fomos consumidos pela espada e pela fome.
19 And if we offer sacrifice to the queen of heaven, and pour out drink offerings to her: did we make cakes to worship her, to pour out drink offerings to her, without our husbands?
19 E quando nós queimávamos incenso à rainha dos céus, e lhe oferecíamos libações, acaso lhe fizemos bolos, para a adorar, e oferecemos-lhe libações sem nossos maridos?
20 And Jeremias spoke to all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying:
20 Então disse Jeremias a todo o povo, aos homens e às mulheres, e a todo o povo que lhe havia dado esta resposta, dizendo:
21 Was it not the sacrifice that you offered in the cities of Juda, and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and Sour fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, which the Lord hath remembered, and hath it not entered into his heart?
21 Porventura não se lembrou o Senhor, e não lhe veio ao coração o incenso que queimastes nas cidades de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém, vós e vossos pais, vossos reis e vossos príncipes, como também o povo da terra?
22 So that the Lord could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which you have committed: therefore your land is become a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.
22 De maneira que o Senhor não podia por mais tempo sofrer a maldade das vossas ações, as abominações que cometestes; por isso se tornou a vossa terra em desolação, e em espanto, e em maldição, sem habitantes, como hoje se vê.
23 Because you have sacrificed to idols, and have sinned against the Lord: and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord, and have not walked in his law, and in his commandments, and in his testimonies: therefore are these evils come upon you, as at this day.
23 Porque queimastes incenso, e porque pecastes contra o Senhor, e não obedecestes à voz do Senhor, e na sua lei, e nos seus testemunhos não andastes, por isso vos sucedeu este mal, como se vê neste dia.
24 And Jeremias said to all the people, and to all the women : Hear ye the word of the Lord, all Juda, you that dwell in the land of Egypt:
24 Disse mais Jeremias a todo o povo e a todas as mulheres: Ouvi a palavra do Senhor, vós, todo o Judá, que estais na terra do Egito.
25 Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel, saying: You and your wives have spoken with your mouth, and fulfilled with your hands, saying: Let us perform our vows which we have made, to offer sacrifice to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to her: you have fulfilled your vows, and have performed them indeed.
25 Assim fala o Senhor dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel, dizendo: Vós e vossas mulheres não somente falastes por vossa boca, senão também o cumpristes por vossas mãos, dizendo: Certamente cumpriremos os nossos votos que fizemos de queimar incenso à rainha dos céus e de lhe oferecer libações; confirmai, pois, os vossos votos, e perfeitamente cumpri-os.
26 Therefore hear ye the word of the Lord, all Juda, you that dwell in the land of Egypt: Behold I have sworn by my great name, saith the Lord: that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Juda, in the land of Egypt, saying: The Lord God liveth.
26 Portanto ouvi a palavra do SENHOR, todo o Judá, que habitais na terra do Egito: Eis que eu juro pelo meu grande nome, diz o SENHOR, que nunca mais será pronunciado o meu nome pela boca de nenhum homem de Judá em toda a terra do Egito dizendo: Vive o Senhor DEUS!
27 Behold I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Juda that are in the land of Egypt, shall be consumed, by the sword, and by famine, till there be an end of them.
27 Eis que velarei sobre eles para mal, e não para bem; e serão consumidos todos os homens de Judá, que estão na terra do Egito, pela espada e pela fome, até que de todo se acabem.
28 And a few men that shall flee from the sword, shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Juda: and all the remnant of Juda that are gone into the land of Egypt to dwell there, shall know whose word shall stand, mine, or theirs.
28 E os que escaparem da espada voltarão da terra do Egito à terra de Judá, poucos em número; e todo o restante de Judá, que entrou na terra do Egito, para habitar ali, saberá se subsistirá a minha palavra ou a sua.
29 And this shall be a sign to you, saith the Lord, that I will punish you in this place: that you may know that my words shall be accomplished indeed against you for evil.
29 E isto vos servirá de sinal, diz o Senhor, que eu vos castigarei neste lugar, para que saibais que certamente subsistirão as minhas palavras contra vós para mal.
30 Thus saith the Lord: Behold I will deliver Pharao Ephree king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life: as I delivered Sedecias king of Juda into the hand of Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon his enemy, and that sought his life.
30 Assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que eu darei Faraó-Hofra, rei do Egito, na mão de seus inimigos, e na mão dos que procuram a sua morte; como entreguei Zedequias, rei de Judá, na mão de Nabucodonosor, rei de babilônia, seu inimigo, e que procurava a sua morte.
