1 The word that came to Jeremias from the Lord, after that Nabuzardan the general had let him go from Rama, when he had taken him, being bound with chains, among all them that were carried away from Jerusalem and Juda, and were carried to Babylon.
1 A palavra que veio a Jeremias da parte do SENHOR, depois que Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, o deixara ir de Ramá, quando o tomou, estando ele atado com cadeias no meio de todos os do cativeiro de Jerusalém e de Judá, que foram levados cativos para babilônia.
2 And the general of the army taking Jeremias, said to him: The Lord thy God hath pronounced this evil upon this place,
2 Tomou o capitão da guarda a Jeremias, e disse-lhe: O Senhor teu Deus pronunciou este mal, contra este lugar.
3 And he hath brought it : and the Lord hath done as he hath said: because you have sinned against the Lord, and have not hearkened to his voice, and this word is come upon you.
3 E o Senhor o trouxe, e fez como havia falado; porque pecastes contra o Senhor, e não obedecestes à sua voz, portanto vos sucedeu isto.
4 Now then behold I have loosed thee this day from the chains which were upon thy hands: if it please thee to come with me to Babylon, come : and I will set my eyes upon thee: but if it do not please thee to come with me to Babylon, stay here: behold all the land is before thee, as thou shalt choose, and whither it shall please thee to go, thither go.
4 Agora, pois, eis que te soltei hoje das cadeias que estavam sobre as tuas mãos. Se te apraz vir comigo para babilônia, vem, e eu cuidarei de ti, mas se não te apraz vir comigo para babilônia, deixa de vir. Olha, toda a terra está diante de ti; para onde parecer bom e reto aos teus olhos ir, para ali vai.
5 And come not with me: but dwell with Godolias the son of Ahicam the son of Saphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Juda: dwell therefore with him in the midst of the people: or whithersoever it shall please thee to go, go. And the general of the army gave him victuals and presents, and let him go.
5 Mas, como ele ainda não tinha voltado, disse-lhe: Volta a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, filho de Safã, a quem o rei de babilônia pôs sobre as cidades de Judá, e habita com ele no meio do povo; ou se para qualquer outra parte te aprouver ir, vai. E deu-lhe o capitão da guarda sustento para o caminho, e um presente, e o deixou ir.
6 And Jeremias went to Godolias the son of Ahicam to Masphath: and dwelt with him in the midst of the people that were left in the land.
6 Assim veio Jeremias a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, a Mizpá; e habitou com ele no meio do povo que havia ficado na terra.
7 And when all the captains of the army that were scattered through the countries, they and their companions, had heard that the king of Babylon had made Godolias the son of Ahicam governor of the country, and that he had committed unto him men and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, them that had not been carried away captive to Babylon:
7 Ouvindo, pois, todos os capitães dos exércitos, que estavam no campo, eles e os seus homens, que o rei de babilônia tinha nomeado a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, governador da terra, e que lhe havia confiado os homens, e as mulheres, e os meninos, e os mais pobres da terra, que não foram levados cativos a babilônia,
8 They came to Godolias to Masphath: and Ismahel the son of Nathanias, and Johanan, and Jonathan, the sons of Caree, and Sareas the son of Thanehumeth, and the children of Ophi, that were of Netophathi, and Jezonias the son of Maachati, they and their men.
8 Vieram ter com Gedalias, a Mizpá; a saber: Ismael, filho de Netanias, e Joanã e Jônatas, filhos de Careá, e Seraías, filho de Tanumete, e os filhos de Efai, o netofatita, e Jezanias, filho de um maacatita, eles e os seus homens.
9 And Godolias the son of Ahicam the son of Saphan swore to them and to their companions, saying: Fear not to serve the Chaldeass: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
9 E jurou Gedalias, filho de Aicão, filho de Safã, a eles e aos seus homens, dizendo: Não temais servir aos caldeus; ficai na terra, e servi o rei de babilônia, e bem vos irá.
10 Behold I dwell in Masphath, that I may answer the commandment of the Chaldeans that are sent to us: but as for you, gather ye the vintage, and the harvest, and the oil, and lay it up in your vessels, and abide in your cities which you hold.
10 Quanto a mim, eis que habito em Mizpá, para estar às ordens dos caldeus que vierem a nós; e vós recolhei o vinho, e as frutas de verão, e o azeite, e colocai-os nos vossos vasos, e habitai nas vossas cidades, que tomastes.
11 Moreover all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the children of Ammon, and in Edom, and in all the countries, when they heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant in Judea, and that he had made Godolias the son of Ahicam the son of Saphan ruler over them:
11 Do mesmo modo todos os judeus que estavam em Moabe, e entre os filhos de Amom, e em Edom, e os que havia em todas aquelas terras, ouviram que o rei de babilônia havia deixado alguns em Judá, e que havia posto sobre eles a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, filho de Safã,
12 All the Jews, I say, returned out of all the places to which they had fled, and they came into the land of Juda to Godolias to Masphath: and they gathered wine, and a very great harvest.
12 Então voltaram todos os judeus de todos os lugares, para onde foram lançados, e vieram à terra de Judá, a Gedalias, a Mizpá; e recolheram vinho e frutas do verão com muita abundância.
13 Then Johanan the son of Caree, and all the captains of the army, that had been scattered about in the countries, came to Godolias to Masphath.
13 Joanã, filho de Careá, e todos os capitães dos exércitos, que estavam no campo, vieram a Gedalias, a Mizpá.
14 And they said to him: Know that Baalis the king of the children of Ammon hath sent Ismahel the son of Nathanias to kill thee. And Godolias the son of Ahicam believed them not.
14 E disseram-lhe: Bem sabes que Baalis, rei dos filhos de Amom, enviou a Ismael, filho de Netanias, para tirar-te a vida. Mas, Gedalias, filho de Aicão, não lhes deu crédito.
15 But Johanan the son of Caree, spoke to Oodolias privately in Masphath, saying: I will go, and I will kill Ismahel the son of Nathanias, and no man shall know it, lest he kill thee, and all the Jews be scattered, that are gathered unto thee, and the remnant of Juda perish.
15 Todavia Joanã, filho de Careá, falou a Gedalias em segredo, em Mizpá, dizendo: Irei agora, e ferirei a Ismael, filho de Netanias, sem que ninguém o saiba; por que razão te tiraria ele a vida, de modo que todos os judeus, que se têm congregado a ti, fossem dispersos, e perecesse o restante de Judá?
16 And Codolias the son of Ahicam said to Johanan the son of Cares: Do not this thing: for what thou sayst of Ismahel is false.
16 Mas disse Gedalias, filho de Aicão, a Joanã, filho de Careá: Não faças tal coisa; porque falas falsamente contra Ismael.
