1 Now it came to pass, after Saul was dead, that David returned from the slaughter of the Amalecites, and abode two days in Siceleg.
1 Ora, aconteceu que, depois da morte de Saul, quando Davi havia retornado do massacre dos amalequitas, e Davi havia permanecido dois dias em Ziclague;
2 And on the third day, there appeared a man who came out of Saul's camp, with his garments rent, and dust strewed on his head: and when he came to David, he fell upon his face, and adored.
2 sucedeu que no terceiro dia, eis que um homem saiu do acampamento de Saul com as vestes rasgadas, e terra sobre a sua cabeça; e assim foi que, quando ele veio até Davi, caiu por terra e fez reverência.
3 And David said to him: From whence comest thou? And he said to him: I am fled out of the camp of Israel.
3 E Davi disse a ele: De onde vens tu? E ele lhe disse: Escapei do acampamento de Israel.
4 And David said unto him: What is the matter that is come to pass? tell me. He said: The people are fled from the battle, and many of the people are fallen and dead: moreover Saul and Jonathan his son are slain.
4 E Davi disse a ele: Como isto se sucedeu? Rogo-te que me contes. E ele respondeu: O povo fugiu da batalha, e muitos do povo também estão caídos e mortos; e Saul e Jônatas, seu filho, estão mortos também.
5 And David said to the young man that told him: How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son, are dead?
5 E Davi disse ao moço que lhe falava: Como sabes que Saul e o seu filho Jônatas estão mortos?
6 And the young man that told him, said: I came by chance upon mount Gelboe, and Saul leaned upon his spear: and the chariots and horsemen drew nigh unto him,
6 E o moço que lhe fez saber e disse: Quando apareci, por acaso, sobre o monte Gilboa, eis que Saul estava reclinado sobre a sua lança; e eis que as carruagens e os cavaleiros o perseguiam implacavelmente.
7 And looking behind him, and seeing me, he called me. And I answered, Here am I.
7 E quando ele olhou atrás dele, viu-me, e me chamou. E eu respondi: Aqui estou.
8 And he said to me: Who art thou? And I said to him: I am an Amalecite.
8 E ele me disse: Quem és tu? E lhe respondi: Eu sou um amalequita.
9 And he said to me: Stand over me, and kill me: for anguish is come upon me, and as yet my whole life is in me.
9 Ele disse a mim novamente: Põe-te de pé, rogo-te, sobre mim e mata-me; porquanto a angústia me sobreveio, porque a minha vida ainda está toda em mim.
10 So standing over him, I killed him: for I knew that he could not live after the fall: and I took the diadem that was on his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm and have brought them hither to thee, my lord.
10 Assim, pus-me sobre ele e o matei, porque estava certo de que ele não conseguiria viver depois de ter caído; e tomei a coroa que estava sobre a sua cabeça, e o bracelete que estava no seu braço, e os trouxe até aqui para o meu senhor.
11 Then David took hold of his garments and rent them, and likewise all the men that were with him.
11 Então Davi tomou as suas vestes e as rasgou; e do mesmo modo todos os homens que estavam com ele;
12 And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until evening for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the Lord, and for the house of Israel, because they were fallen by the sword.
12 e eles se lamentaram, e choraram, e jejuaram até o anoitecer, por Saul e por Jônatas, seu filho, e pelo povo do SENHOR, e pela casa de Israel; porque haviam caído à espada.
13 And David said to the young man that told him: Whence art thou? He answered: I am the son of a stranger of Amalee.
13 E Davi disse ao moço que lhe contava: De onde és tu? E ele respondeu: Eu sou o filho de um estrangeiro, um amalequita.
14 David said to him: Why didst thou not fear to put out thy hand to kill the Lord's anointed?
14 E Davi lhe disse: Como não temeste estender a tua mão para destruir o ungido do SENHOR?
15 And David calling one of his servants, said: Go near and fall upon him. And he struck him so that he died.
15 E Davi chamou um dos moços, e disse: Vai perto, e lança-te sobre ele. E ele o feriu, de modo que morreu.
16 And David said to him: Thy blood be upon thy own head: for thy own mouth hath spoken against thee, saying: I have slain the Lord's anointed.
16 E Davi disse a ele: O teu sangue esteja sobre a tua cabeça; porque a tua boca testificou contra ti, dizendo: Eu matei o ungido do SENHOR.
17 And David made this kind of lamentation over Saul, and over Jonathan his son.
17 E Davi lamentou com esta lamentação por Saul e por Jônatas, seu filho.
18 (Also he commanded that they should teach the children of Juda the use of the bow, as it is written in the book of the just.) And he said: Consider, O Israel, for them that are dead, wounded on thy high places.
18 (Ele também lhes ordenou que ensinassem aos filhos de Judá o uso do arco; eis que está escrito no livro de Jaser).
19 The illustrious of Israel are slain upon thy mountains: how are the valiant fallen?
19 A beleza de Israel está morta sobre os teus lugares altos; como caíram os poderosos!
20 Tell it not in Geth, publish it not in the streets of Ascalon: lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph,
20 Não conteis isso em Gate, não o publiqueis nas ruas de Asquelom; para que não se regozijem as filhas dos filisteus, para que as filhas dos incircuncisos não triunfem.
21 Ye mountains of Gelboe, let neither dew, nor rain come upon you, neither be they fields of firstfruits: for there was cast away the shield of the valiant, the shield of Saul as though he had not been anointed with oil.
21 Vós, montes de Gilboa, não haja orvalho, nem haja chuva sobre vós, nem campos de ofertas; porque ali o escudo dos poderosos está jogado de modo vil, o escudo de Saul, como se ele não tivesse sido ungido com óleo.
22 From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the valiant, the arrow of Jonathan never turned back, and the sword of Saul did not return empty.
22 Do sangue dos mortos, da gordura dos poderosos, o arco de Jônatas não voltava atrás, e a espada de Saul não retornava vazia.
23 Saul and Jonathan, lovely, and comely in their life, even in death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, stronger than lions.
23 Saul e Jônatas eram queridos e agradáveis nas suas vidas, e nas suas mortes não foram separados; eles eram mais ágeis do que as águias, eram mais fortes do que leões.
24 Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you with scarlet in delights, who gave ornaments of gold for your attire.
24 Vós, filhas de Israel, chorai por Saul, que vos vestiu de escarlata, com outros deleites; que colocava ornamentos de ouro sobre a vossa indumentária.
25 How are the valiant fallen in battle? Jonathan slain in the high places?
25 Como caíram os poderosos em meio à batalha! Ó Jônatas, tu foste morto nos teus lugares altos.
26 I grieve for thee, my brother Jonathan: exceeding beautiful, and amiable to me above the love of women. As the mother loveth her only son, so did I love thee.
26 Estou angustiado por ti, meu irmão Jônatas; tu me fostes mui agradável; o teu amor para comigo foi maravilhoso, passando o amor de mulheres.
27 How are the valiant fallen, and the weapons of war perished?
27 Como caíram os poderosos, e as armas de guerra pereceram!
