1 And it came to pass after this, that Amnon the son of David loved the sister of Absalom the son of David, who was very beautiful, and her name was Thamar.
1 E sucedeu depois disso, que Absalão, o filho de Davi, tinha uma irmã formosa, cujo nome era Tamar; e Amnon, o filho de Davi, a amava.
2 And he was exceedingly fond of her, so that he fell sick for the love of her: for as she was a virgin, he thought it hard to do any thing dishonestly with her.
2 E Amnom ficou tão atormentado que caiu enfermo por causa da sua irmã Tamar; porquanto ela era virgem; e Amnom considerava difícil para ele fazer algo a ela.
3 Now Amnon had a friend, named Jonadab the son of Semmaa the brother of David, a very wise man:
3 Amnom, porém, tinha um amigo, cujo nome era Jonadabe, o filho de Simeia, irmão de Davi; e Jonadabe era um homem mui sutil.
4 And he said to him: Why dost thou grow so lean from day to day, O son of the king? why dost thou not tell me the reason of it? And Amnon said to him: I am in love with Thamar the sister of my brother Absalom.
4 E ele lhe disse: Por que estás tu, sendo o filho do rei, magro dia após dia? Não me contarás? E Amnon disse a ele: Eu amo Tamar, a irmã do meu irmão Absalão.
5 And Jonadab said to him: Lie down upon thy bed, and feign thyself sick: and when thy father shall come to visit thee, say to him: Let my sister Thamar, I pray thee, come to me, to give me to eat, and to make me a mess, that I may eat it at her hand.
5 E Jonadabe disse a ele: Deita-te na tua cama, e faz-te de enfermo; e quando o teu pai vier para te ver, diz a ele: Rogo-te que deixes Tamar, a minha irmã, vir e me dar alimento, e preparar a carne à minha vista, para que eu possa vê-la, e comer da sua mão.
6 So Amnon lay down, and made as if he were sick: and when the king came to visit him, Amnon said to the king: I pray thee let my sister Thamar come, and make in my sight two little messes, that I may eat at her hand.
6 Assim, Amnom se deitou, e se fez de enfermo; e quando o rei veio para o ver, Amnom disse ao rei: Rogo-te que deixes Tamar, minha irmã, vir fazer dois bolos à minha vista, para que eu possa comer da sua mão.
7 Then David sent home to Thamar, saying: Come to the house of thy brother Amnon, and make him a mess.
7 Então, Davi enviou à casa, a Tamar, dizendo: Vai agora até a casa do teu irmão Amnom e prepara alimento para ele.
8 And Thamar came to the house of Amnon her brother: but he was laid down: and she took meal and tempered it: and dissolving it in his sight she made little messes.
8 Assim, Tamar foi à casa do seu irmão Amnom; e ele estava deitado. E ela tomou farinha, e a amassou, e fez bolos à vista dele, e assou os bolos.
9 And taking what she had boiled, she poured it out, and set it before him, but he would not eat: and Amnon said: Put out all persons from me. And when they had put all persons out,
9 E ela pegou uma panela, e os colocou diante dele; mas ele se recusou a comê-los. E Amnon disse: Retirai de mim todos os homens. E se retiraram todos os homens de diante dele.
10 Amnon said to Thamar: Bring the mess into the chamber, that I may eat at thy hand. And Thamar took the little messes which she had made, and brought them in to her brother Amnon in the chamber.
10 E Amnom disse a Tamar: Trazei o alimento à câmara, para que eu possa comer da tua mão. E Tamar tomou os bolos que ela havia feito, e os trouxe à câmara para Amnom, o seu irmão.
11 And when she had presented him the meat, he took hold of her, and said: Come lie with me, my sister.
11 E, quando ela os trouxe para ele comer, ele a agarrou e disse a ela: Vem te deitar comigo, minha irmã.
12 She answered him: Do not so, my brother, do not force me: for no such thing must be done in Israel. Do not thou this folly.
12 E ela respondeu: Não, meu irmão, não me forces; porque tal coisa não deve ser feita em Israel; não faças esta loucura.
13 For I shall not be able to bear my shame, and thou shalt be as one of the fools in Israel: but rather speak to the king, and he will not deny me to thee.
13 E eu, para onde farei ir a minha vergonha? E, quanto a ti? Serás como um dos loucos de Israel. Agora, portanto, rogo-te, fala com o rei; porque ele não me negará a ti.
14 But he would not hearken to her prayers, but being stronger overpowered her and lay with her.
14 Todavia, ele não quis atentar à sua voz; mas, sendo mais forte do que ela, forçou-a, e se deitou com ela.
15 Then Amnon hated her with an exceeding great hatred: so that the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her before, And Amnon said to her: Arise, and get thee gone.
15 Então, Amnom odiou-a sobremaneira; de tal forma que o ódio com o qual a odiou foi maior do que o amor com que a amou. E Amnom disse a ela: Levanta-te e vai-te.
16 She answered him: This evil which now thou dost against me, in driving me away, is greater than that which thou didst before. And he would not hearken to her:
16 E ela disse a ele: Não há motivo; este mal de me despedires é maior do que o outro que me fizeste. Ele, porém, não quis atentar a ela.
17 But calling the servants that ministered to him, he said: Thrust this woman out from me: and shut the door after her.
17 Então, ele chamou o seu servo que lhe servia, e disse: Retira, agora, esta mulher da minha presença, e tranca a porta após ela.
18 And she was clothed with along robe: for the king's daughters that were virgins, used such kind of garments. Then his servant thrust her out: and shut the door after her.
18 E ela trazia uma vestimenta de diversas cores sobre si; porque com tais túnicas eram vestidas as filhas do rei que eram virgens. Então, o seu servo a trouxe para fora, e trancou a porta após ela.
19 And she put ashes on her head, and rent her long robe and laid her hands upon her head, and went on crying.
19 E Tamar pôs cinzas sobre a sua cabeça, e rasgou a sua vestimenta de diversas cores que estava vestindo, e pôs sua mão sobre a cabeça, e seguiu chorando.
20 And Absalom her brother said to her: Hath thy brother Amnon lain with thee? but now, sister, hold thy peace, he is thy brother: and afflict not thy heart for this thing. So Thamar remained pining away in the house of Absalom her brother.
20 E Absalão, seu irmão, disse a ela: Amnom, teu irmão, esteve contigo? Mas segura, agora, a tua paz, minha irmã; ele é teu irmão; não te turbes com esta coisa. Assim, Tamar permaneceu desolada na casa do seu irmão Absalão.
21 And when king David heard of these things he was exceedingly grieved: and he would not afflict the spirit of his son Amnon, for he loved him, because he was his firstborn.
21 Mas quando o rei Davi ouviu todas estas coisas, ficou mui irado.
22 But Absalom spoke not to Amnon neither good nor evil: for Absalom hated Amnon because he had ravished his sister Thamar.
22 E Absalão não falou nem bem, nem mal com o seu irmão Amnom; porque Absalão odiou Amnom, porquanto ele havia forçado sua irmã Tamar.
23 And it came to pass after two years, that the sheep of Absalom were shorn in Baalhasor, which is near Ephraim: and Absalom invited all the king's sons:
23 E sucedeu, depois de dois anos completos, que Absalão tinha tosquiadores de ovelhas em Baal-Hazor, que fica ao lado de Efraim; e Absalão convidou todos os filhos do rei.
24 And he came to the king, and said to him: Behold thy servant's sheep are shorn. Let the king, I pray, with his servants come to his servant.
24 E Absalão veio até o rei, e disse: Agora que o teu servo tem tosquiadores de ovelhas; suplico-te que o rei e os seus servos venham com o teu servo.
25 And the king said to Absalom: Nay, my son, do not ask that we should all come, and be chargeable to thee. And when he pressed him, and he would not go, he blessed him.
25 E o rei disse a Absalão: Não, filho meu, não iremos todos de uma vez, para que não te sejamos por peso. E ele insistiu. Todavia, ele não quis ir, mas o abençoou.
26 And Absalom said: If thou wilt not come, at least let my brother Amnon, I beseech thee, come with us. And the king said to him: It is not necessary that he should go with thee.
26 Então, disse Absalão: Se não, rogo-te, deixa que o meu irmão Amnom venha conosco. E o rei disse a ele: Por que ele deveria ir contigo?
27 But Absalom pressed him, so that he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him. And Absalom made a feast as it were the feast of a king.
27 Absalão, porém, insistiu com ele para que deixasse Amnom e todos os filhos do rei irem com ele.
28 And Absalom had commanded his servants, saying: Take notice when Amnon shall be drunk with wine, and when I shall say to you: Strike him, and kill him, fear not: for it is I that command you: take courage, and be valiant men.
28 Ora, Absalão havia ordenado aos seus servos, dizendo: Marcai, pois, quando o coração de Amnom estiver alegre com vinho, e quando eu vos disser: Feri Amnom; então matai-o, não temais; não vo-lo ordenei eu? Sede corajosos e sede valentes.
29 And the servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded them. And all the king's sons arose and got up every man upon his mule, and fled.
29 E os servos de Absalão fizeram a Amnom segundo Absalão havia ordenado. Então, todos os filhos do rei se levantaram, e cada qual subiu sobre sua mula, e fugiu.
30 And while they were yet in the way, a rumour came to David, saying: Absalom hath slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.
30 E sucedeu, enquanto eles estavam no caminho, que chegaram novas a Davi, dizendo: Absalão matou todos os filhos do rei, e nenhum deles restou.
31 Then the king rose up, and rent his garments: and fell upon the ground, and all his servants, that stood about him, rent their garments.
31 Então, o rei se levantou, e rasgou as suas vestes, e deitou-se sobre a terra; e todos os seus servos permaneceram junto com suas vestes rasgadas.
32 But Jonadab the son of Semmaa David's brother answering, said: Let not my lord the king think that all the king's sons are slain: Amnon only is dead, for he was appointed by the mouth of Absalom from the day that he ravished his sister Thamar.
32 E Jonadabe, o filho de Simeia, irmão de Davi, respondeu e disse: Não suponha o meu senhor que mataram todos os moços filhos do rei; porque somente Amnom está morto; porquanto, por convocação de Absalão, foi isto determinado desde o dia em que ele forçou sua irmã Tamar.
33 Now therefore let not my lord the king take this thing into his heart, saying: All the king's sons are slain: for Amnon only is dead.
33 Agora, portanto, não leve, o meu senhor, esta coisa ao seu coração, o pensar que todos os filhos do rei estão mortos; porque somente Amnom está morto.
34 But Absalom fled away: and the young man that kept the watch, lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold there came much people by a by-way on the side of the mountain.
34 Mas Absalão fugiu. E o moço que mantinha a guarda levantou os seus olhos, e viu, e eis que vinham muitas pessoas pelo caminho da encosta à sua retaguarda.
35 And Jonadab said to the king: Behold the king's sons are come: as thy servant said, so it is.
35 E Jonadabe disse ao rei: Eis que vêm os filhos do rei; como disse o teu servo, assim o é.
36 And when he made an end of speaking, the king's sons also appeared: and coming in they lifted up their voice, and wept: and the king also and all his servants wept very much.
36 E sucedeu, tão logo ele terminou de falar, que chegaram os filhos do rei, e ergueram a sua voz e choraram; e também o rei e todos os seus servos choraram mui amargamente.
37 But Absalom fled, and went to Tholomai the son of Ammiud the king of Gessur. And David mourned for his son every day.
37 Então Absalão fugiu, e foi até Talmai, filho de Amiúde, rei de Gesur. E Davi se lamentava pelo seu filho todos os dias.
38 And Absalom after he was fled, and come into Gessur, was there three years. And king David ceased to pursue after Absalom, because he was comforted concerning the death of Amnon.
38 Então Absalão fugiu, e foi até Gesur, e ali permaneceu três anos.
39 — ausente —
39 E a alma do rei Davi ansiava em ir até Absalão; porque ele estava consolado acerca de Amnom, sabendo que ele estava morto.
