1 And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ochozias his youngest son king in his place: for the rovers of the Arabians, who had broke in upon the camp, had killed all that were his elder brothers. So Ochozias the son of Joram king of Juda reigned.
1 Os moradores de Jerusalém puseram Acazias, o filho mais moço de Jeorão, como rei no lugar do seu pai. Isso porque o bando de árabes que havia invadido o acampamento tinha matado todos os filhos de Jeorão, menos Acazias. Assim Acazias se tornou rei de Judá
2 Ochozias was forty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother was Athalia the daughter of Amri.
2 aos vinte e dois anos de idade. Ele governou em Jerusalém um ano.
3 He also walked in the ways of the house of Achab: for his mother pushed him on to do wickedly.
3 A mãe dele se chamava Atalia e era filha do rei Acabe e neta do rei Onri, de Israel. Ela dava maus conselhos a Acazias, e assim ele seguiu o péssimo exemplo da família de Acabe.
4 So he did evil in the sight of the Lord, as the house of Achab did: for they were his counsellors after the death of his father, to his destruction.
4 Como a família de Acabe havia feito, ele pecou contra Deus, o Senhor , porque, depois da morte do seu pai, outras pessoas da família de Acabe foram os seus conselheiros.
5 And he walked after their counsels. And he went with Joram the son of Achab king of Israel, to fight against Hazael king of Syria, at Ramoth Galaad : and the Syrians wounded Joram.
5 Seguindo os conselhos que eles davam, Acazias se juntou com o rei de Israel, Jorão, filho de Acabe, e foi até Ramote-Gileade para lutar contra o rei Hazael, da Síria. Jorão foi ferido na batalha
6 And he returned to be healed in Jezrahel: for he received many wounds in the foresaid battle. And Ochozias the son of Joram king of Juda, went down to visit Joram the son of Achab in Jezrahel where he lay sick.
6 e voltou para a cidade de Jezreel a fim de tratar os seus ferimentos. E Acazias foi até lá visitá-lo.
7 For it was the will of God against Ochozias that he should come to Joram: and when he was come should go out also against Jehu the son of Namsi, whom the Lord had anointed to destroy the house of Achab.
7 Deus havia decidido que Acazias iria morrer nessa visita a Jorão. Logo que chegou, Acazias foi com Jorão encontrar-se com Jeú, filho de Ninsi, a quem o Senhor Deus havia escolhido para acabar com a família de Acabe.
8 So when Jehu was rooting out the house of Achab, he found the princes of Juda, and the sons of the brethren of Ochozias, who served him, and he slew them.
8 Jeú estava executando a condenação divina contra a família de Acabe quando encontrou alguns chefes de Judá e alguns sobrinhos do rei Acazias, que estavam ao serviço do rei; e Jeú os matou.
9 And he sought for Ochozias himself, and took him lying hid in Samaria: and when he was brought to him, he killed him, and they buried him: because he was the son of Josaphat, who had sought the Lord with all his heart. And there was no more hope that any one should reign of the race of Ochozias.
9 Depois ele mandou procurar Acazias, que foi encontrado na cidade de Samaria, onde estava se escondendo. Entregaram Acazias a Jeú e o mataram. Mas eles o sepultaram porque era neto do rei Josafá, que havia se esforçado para servir com todo o coração a Deus, o Senhor . E agora não havia nenhuma outra pessoa da família de Acazias que pudesse ser rei.
10 For Athalia his mother, seeing that her son was dead, rose up, and killed all the royal family of the house of Joram.
10 Assim que Atalia, a mãe do rei Acazias, soube da morte do filho, deu ordem para que todas as pessoas da família real fossem mortas.
11 But Josabeth the king's daughter took Joas the son of Ochozias, and stole him from among the king's sons that were slain. And she hid him with his nurse in a bedchamber: now Josabeth that hid him, was daughter of king Joram, wife of Joiada the high priest, and sister of Ochozias, and therefore Athalia did not kill him.
11 Somente Joás, filho de Acazias, escapou. Ele ia ser morto com os outros, mas foi salvo por sua tia Jeoseba, que era filha do rei Jeorão, meia-irmã de Acazias e mulher do sacerdote Joiada. Ela levou Joás e a sua babá para um quarto do Templo e o escondeu de Atalia. Assim ele não foi morto.
12 And he was with them hid in the house of God six years, during which Athalia reigned over the land.
12 Durante seis anos, Joás ficou ali escondido com as pessoas que o protegiam. Enquanto isso, Atalia governava o país.
