1 My son, if thou receivest my words, and layest up my commandments with thee,
1 Meu filho, se receberes minhas palavras, e esconderes contigo os meus mandamentos;
2 so that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom {and} thou apply thy heart to understanding;
2 para que inclines teu ouvido à sabedoria, e apliques o teu coração ao entendimento;
3 yea, if thou criest after discernment {and} liftest up thy voice to understanding;
3 e se clamares por conhecimento, e elevares tua voz por entendimento,
4 if thou seekest her as silver and searchest for her as for hidden treasures:
4 se a buscares como à prata e a procurares como a tesouros escondidos,
5 then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, and find the knowledge of God.
5 então entenderás o temor do SENHOR, e acharás o conhecimento de Deus.
6 For Jehovah giveth wisdom; out of his mouth {come} knowledge and understanding.
6 Porque o SENHOR dá a sabedoria; da sua boca vem o conhecimento e o entendimento.
7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright; {he} is a shield to them that walk in integrity;
7 Ele reserva a perfeita sabedoria para os justos; ele é um broquel para aqueles que caminham corretamente.
8 guarding the paths of just judgment and keeping the way of his godly ones.
8 Ele guarda as veredas do juízo, e preserva o caminho dos seus santos.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness and judgment and equity: every good path.
9 Então entenderás a justiça, o juízo, a equidade; sim, toda boa vereda.
10 When wisdom entereth into thy heart and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul,
10 Quando a sabedoria entrar no teu coração, e o conhecimento for agradável à tua alma,
11 discretion shall keep thee, understanding shall preserve thee:
11 a discrição te preservará, e o entendimento te guardará;
12 To deliver thee from the way of evil, from the man that speaketh froward things;
12 para te livrar do caminho do homem mau, do homem que fala coisas perversas;
13 {from those} who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
13 que deixam as veredas da retidão, para andarem pelos caminhos das trevas;
14 who rejoice to do evil, {and} delight in the frowardness of evil;
14 que se regozijam de fazer o mal, e se deleitam com a perversidade dos maus;
15 whose paths are crooked, and who are perverted in their course:
15 cujas veredas são tortuosas, e são perversos em seus caminhos;
16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, from the stranger who flattereth with her words;
16 para te livrar da mulher estrangeira, e até mesmo da estrangeira que lisonjeia com suas palavras;
17 who forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God;
17 que abandona o guia da sua mocidade, e se esquece do pacto do seu Deus;
18 -for her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead;
18 porque a sua casa se inclina para a morte, e as suas veredas para os mortos.
19 none that go unto her return again, neither do they attain to the paths of life:
19 Nenhum dos que vão até ela retorna novamente, nem retomam as veredas da vida.
20 -that thou mayest walk in the way of the good, and keep the paths of the righteous.
20 Para que tu possas andar pelo caminho dos homens bons, e guardar as veredas dos justos.
21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it;
21 Porque os retos habitarão a terra, e os perfeitos permanecerão nela.
22 but the wicked shall be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful shall be plucked up out of it.
22 Mas os ímpios serão arrancados da terra, e os transgressores serão exterminados dela.
