1 And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said to him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.
1 Então Isaque chamou Jacó e o abençoou. E lhe deu a seguinte ordem: — Não case com nenhuma moça daqui de Canaã.
2 Arise, go to Padan-Aram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother's father, and take a wife thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother's brother.
2 Apronte-se e vá para a Mesopotâmia. Fique na casa do seu avô Betuel e case com uma das filhas do seu tio Labão.
3 And the Almighty *God bless thee, and make thee fruitful and multiply thee, that thou mayest become a company of peoples.
3 Que o Deus Todo-Poderoso o abençoe e lhe dê muitos descendentes para que de você saiam muitas nações!
4 And may he give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee and to thy seed with thee, in order that thou mayest possess the land of thy sojourning, which God gave to Abraham!
4 Que ele abençoe você e os seus descendentes, como abençoou Abraão, para que sejam donos desta terra onde você tem vivido como estrangeiro, terra que Deus deu a Abraão!
5 And Isaac sent away Jacob; and he went to Padan-Aram, to Laban the son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebecca, Jacob's and Esau's mother.
5 Foi assim que Isaque mandou que Jacó fosse morar na Mesopotâmia, na casa de Labão, que era filho de Betuel, o arameu, e irmão de Rebeca, a mãe de Esaú e de Jacó.
6 And Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padan-Aram, to take a wife thence, blessing him, and giving him a charge saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;
6 Esaú ficou sabendo que Isaque havia abençoado Jacó e o havia mandado para a Mesopotâmia a fim de casar ali. Também soube que, quando o pai o havia abençoado, tinha mandado que não casasse com nenhuma mulher do país de Canaã.
7 and {that} Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padan-Aram.
7 E ficou sabendo que, obedecendo ao pai e à mãe, Jacó havia ido para a Mesopotâmia.
8 And Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan were evil in the sight of Isaac his father.
8 Então Esaú compreendeu que o seu pai não via com bons olhos as mulheres de Canaã.
9 And Esau went to Ishmael, and took, besides the wives that he had, Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of Nebaioth, to be his wife.
9 Por isso foi até a casa de Ismael, filho de Abraão, e casou com Maalate, filha de Ismael e irmã de Nebaiote.
10 And Jacob went out from Beer-sheba, and went towards Haran.
10 Jacó saiu de Berseba a fim de ir para Harã.
11 And he lighted on a certain place, and lodged there, because the sun had set. And he took {one} of the stones of the place, and made {it} his pillow, and lay down in that place.
11 De tardinha ele chegou a um lugar sagrado e passou a noite ali. Pegou uma pedra daquele lugar para servir como travesseiro e se deitou ali mesmo para dormir.
12 And he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to the heavens. And behold, angels of God ascended and descended upon it.
12 Então Jacó sonhou. Ele viu uma escada que ia da terra até o céu, e os anjos de Deus subiam e desciam por ela.
13 And behold, Jehovah stood above it. And he said, I am Jehovah, the God of Abraham, thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land on which thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed.
13 O Senhor Deus estava ao lado dele e disse: — Eu sou o
14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south; and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
14 Os seus descendentes serão tantos como o pó da terra. Eles se espalharão de norte a sul e de leste a oeste, e por meio de você e dos seus descendentes eu abençoarei todos os povos do mundo.
15 And behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all {places} to which thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee until I have done what I have spoken to thee of.
15 Eu estarei com você e o protegerei em todos os lugares aonde você for. E farei com que você volte para esta terra. Eu não o abandonarei até que cumpra tudo o que lhe prometi.
16 And Jacob awoke from his sleep, and said, Surely Jehovah is in this place, and I knew {it} not.
16 Quando Jacó acordou, disse assim: “De fato, o Senhor Deus está neste lugar, e eu não sabia disso.”
17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
17 Aí ficou com medo e disse: “Este lugar dá medo na gente. Aqui é a casa de Deus, aqui fica a porta do céu!”
18 And Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had made his pillow, and set it up {for} a pillar, and poured oil on the top of it.
18 Jacó se levantou bem cedo, pegou a pedra que havia usado como travesseiro e a pôs de pé como um pilar. Depois derramou azeite em cima para dedicá-la a Deus.
19 And he called the name of that place Beth-el; but the name of that city was Luz at the first.
19 Naquele lugar havia uma cidade que antes se chamava Luz, mas Jacó mudou o seu nome para Betel .
20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and keep me on this road that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and a garment to put on,
20 Ali Jacó fez a Deus a seguinte promessa: “Se tu fores comigo e me guardares nesta viagem que estou fazendo; se me deres roupa e comida;
21 and I come again to my father's house in peace-then shall Jehovah be my God.
21 e se eu voltar são e salvo para a casa do meu pai, então tu, ó Senhor , serás o meu Deus.
22 And this stone, which I have set up {for} a pillar, shall be God's house; and of all that thou wilt give me I will without fail give the tenth to thee.
22 Esta pedra que pus como pilar será a tua casa, ó Deus, e eu te entregarei a décima parte de tudo quanto me deres.”
