1 And all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.
1 Todo o povo de Judá tomou a Uzias, que era de dezesseis anos, e o constituiu rei em lugar de Amazias, seu pai.
2 It was he that built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers.
2 Ele edificou a Elate e a restituiu a Judá, depois que o rei descansou com seus pais.
3 Uzziah was sixteen years old when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem.
3 Uzias tinha dezesseis anos quando começou a reinar e cinquenta e dois anos reinou em Jerusalém. Era o nome de sua mãe Jecolias, de Jerusalém.
4 And he did what was right in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.
4 Ele fez o que era reto perante o Senhor , segundo tudo o que fizera Amazias, seu pai.
5 And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God; and in the days that he sought Jehovah, God made him to prosper.
5 Propôs-se buscar a Deus nos dias de Zacarias, que era sábio nas visões de Deus; nos dias em que buscou ao Senhor , Deus o fez prosperar.
6 And he went forth and fought against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
6 Saiu e guerreou contra os filisteus e quebrou o muro de Gate, o de Jabné e o de Asdode; e edificou cidades no território de Asdode e entre os filisteus.
7 And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-Baal, and the Maonites.
7 Deus o ajudou contra os filisteus, e contra os arábios que habitavam em Gur-Baal, e contra os meunitas.
8 And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad to the entrance of Egypt; for he became exceeding strong.
8 Os amonitas deram presentes a Uzias, cujo renome se espalhara até à entrada do Egito, porque se tinha tornado em extremo forte.
9 And Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the angle, and fortified them.
9 Também edificou Uzias torres em Jerusalém, à Porta da Esquina, à Porta do Vale e à Porta do Ângulo e as fortificou.
10 And he built towers in the desert and digged many cisterns; for he had much cattle, both in the lowland and on the plateau, husbandmen {also} and vinedressers on the mountains and in Carmel; for he loved husbandry.
10 Também edificou torres no deserto e cavou muitas cisternas, porque tinha muito gado, tanto nos vales como nas campinas; tinha lavradores e vinhateiros, nos montes e nos campos férteis, porque era amigo da agricultura.
11 And Uzziah had an army of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king's captains.
11 Tinha também Uzias um exército de homens destros nas armas, que saíam à guerra em tropas, segundo o rol feito pelo escrivão Jeiel e Maaseias, oficial, sob a direção de Hananias, um dos príncipes do rei.
12 The whole number of the chief fathers of the mighty men of valour was two thousand six hundred.
12 O número total dos cabeças das famílias, homens valentes, era de dois mil e seiscentos.
13 And under their hand was an army-host of three hundred and seven thousand five hundred, that made war with mighty power to help the king against the enemy.
13 Debaixo das suas ordens, havia um exército guerreiro de trezentos e sete mil e quinhentos homens, que faziam a guerra com grande poder, para ajudar o rei contra os inimigos.
14 And Uzziah prepared for them, throughout the host, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and even slinging-stones.
14 Preparou-lhes Uzias, para todo o exército, escudos, lanças, capacetes, couraças e arcos e até fundas para atirar pedras.
15 And he made in Jerusalem machines invented by skilful men, to be upon the towers and upon the bulwarks, wherewith to shoot arrows and great stones. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he became strong.
15 Fabricou em Jerusalém máquinas, de invenção de homens peritos, destinadas para as torres e cantos das muralhas, para atirarem flechas e grandes pedras; divulgou-se a sua fama até muito longe, porque foi maravilhosamente ajudado, até que se tornou forte.
16 But when he became strong his heart was lifted up to {his} downfall; and he transgressed against Jehovah his God, and went into the temple of Jehovah to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
16 Mas, havendo-se já fortificado, exaltou-se o seu coração para a sua própria ruína, e cometeu transgressões contra o Senhor , seu Deus, porque entrou no templo do Senhor para queimar incenso no altar do incenso.
17 And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him priests of Jehovah, eighty valiant men;
17 Porém o sacerdote Azarias entrou após ele, com oitenta sacerdotes do Senhor , homens da maior firmeza;
18 and they withstood Uzziah the king, and said to him, It is not for thee, Uzziah, to burn incense to Jehovah, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast transgressed; neither shall it be for thine honour from Jehovah Elohim.
18 e resistiram ao rei Uzias e lhe disseram: A ti, Uzias, não compete queimar incenso perante o Senhor , mas aos sacerdotes, filhos de Arão, que são consagrados para este mister; sai do santuário, porque transgrediste; nem será isso para honra tua da parte do Senhor Deus.
19 And Uzziah was wroth; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense; and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of Jehovah, beside the incense altar.
19 Então, Uzias se indignou; tinha o incensário na mão para queimar incenso; indignando-se ele, pois, contra os sacerdotes, a lepra lhe saiu na testa perante os sacerdotes, na Casa do Senhor , junto ao altar do incenso.
20 And Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked upon him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; even he himself hasted to go out, because Jehovah had smitten him.
20 Então, o sumo sacerdote Azarias e todos os sacerdotes voltaram-se para ele, e eis que estava leproso na testa, e apressadamente o lançaram fora; até ele mesmo se deu pressa em sair, visto que o Senhor o ferira.
21 And Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and dwelt in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of Jehovah. And Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land.
21 Assim, ficou leproso o rei Uzias até ao dia da sua morte; e morou, por ser leproso, numa casa separada, porque foi excluído da Casa do Senhor ; e Jotão, seu filho, tinha a seu cargo a casa do rei, julgando o povo da terra.
22 And the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, did the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz write.
22 Quanto aos mais atos de Uzias, tanto os primeiros como os últimos, o profeta Isaías, filho de Amoz, os escreveu.
23 And Uzziah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the burial-ground of the kings, for they said, He is a leper. And Jotham his son reigned in his stead.
23 Descansou Uzias com seus pais, e, com seus pais, o sepultaram no campo do sepulcro que era dos reis; porque disseram: Ele é leproso. E Jotão, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
