1 And after this it came to pass that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines.
1 Algum tempo depois, Davi atacou de novo os filisteus e os derrotou. Tomou deles a cidade de Gate e os povoados que ficavam ao seu redor.
2 And he smote the Moabites; and the Moabites became David's servants, {and} brought gifts.
2 Também derrotou os moabitas, que ficaram dominados por ele e lhe pagavam impostos.
3 And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah, at Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates.
3 Depois Davi atacou Hadadezer, que era o rei de Zoba, na Síria, perto da região de Hamate. Isso aconteceu quando Hadadezer estava tentando conquistar a região que ficava ao longo do rio Eufrates.
4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David houghed all the chariot {horses}, but reserved of them {for} a hundred chariots.
4 Davi tomou de Hadadezer mil carros de guerra e prendeu sete mil cavaleiros e vinte mil soldados de infantaria. Ele também ficou com cavalos suficientes para puxarem cem carros de guerra e aleijou os outros.
5 And the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, and David smote of the Syrians twenty-two thousand men.
5 Os sírios de Damasco foram socorrer Hadadezer, e Davi os atacou e matou vinte e dois mil deles.
6 And David put {garrisons} in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, {and} brought gifts. And Jehovah preserved David whithersoever he went.
6 Em seguida colocou acampamentos militares no território dos sírios de Damasco. Davi os dominou, e eles lhe pagavam impostos. O Senhor Deus fez com que Davi fosse vitorioso em todos os lugares.
7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
7 Davi tomou dos oficiais de Hadadezer os escudos de ouro que eles usavam e os levou para Jerusalém.
8 And from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, David took very much brass, of which Solomon made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.
8 Também tomou uma grande quantidade de bronze das cidades de Tibate e de Cum, que eram governadas por Hadadezer. (Anos mais tarde, Salomão usou esse bronze para fazer o tanque, as colunas e objetos para o Templo.)
9 And Tou king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the forces of Hadarezer king of Zobah;
9 O rei Toí, da cidade de Hamate, soube que Davi tinha derrotado todo o exército de Hadadezer.
10 and he sent Hadoram his son to king David to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer and smitten him; for Hadarezer was continually at war with Tou; {he sent} also all manner of vessels of gold and silver and bronze.
10 Então mandou o seu filho Jorão para cumprimentar Davi e para lhe dar os parabéns por ter vencido Hadadezer. Acontece que Toí havia lutado muitas vezes contra Hadadezer. Jorão levou para Davi objetos de prata, de ouro e de bronze.
11 Them also king David dedicated to Jehovah, with the silver and the gold that he had brought from all the nations: from the Edomites, and from the Moabites, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from the Amalekites.
11 E o rei Davi os separou para serem usados na adoração a Deus, o Senhor , juntamente com a prata e o ouro que tinha tomado dos povos que havia conquistado, isto é, os edomitas, os moabitas, os amonitas, os filisteus e os amalequitas.
12 And Abishai the son of Zeruiah smote of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.
12 Abisai, cuja mãe se chamava Zeruia, derrotou os edomitas no vale do Sal e matou dezoito mil deles.
13 And he put garrisons in Edom; and all they of Edom became servants to David. And Jehovah preserved David whithersoever he went.
13 Ele colocou acampamentos militares em todo o país de Edom, e o povo dali ficou debaixo do domínio de Davi. O Senhor fez com que Davi fosse vitorioso em todos os lugares aonde ia.
14 And David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice to all his people.
14 Davi governou todo o Israel e fez com que o seu povo fosse sempre tratado com justiça.
15 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was chronicler;
15 Joabe, irmão de Abisai, era o comandante do exército. Josafá, filho de Ailude, era conselheiro do rei.
16 and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Shavsha was scribe;
16 Zadoque, filho de Aitube, e Aimeleque, filho de Abiatar, eram sacerdotes. Seraías era o escrivão.
17 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were the first at the king's hand.
17 Benaías, filho de Joiada, era o chefe dos queretitas e dos peletitas . E os filhos do rei Davi tinham as mais altas posições no seu serviço.
