1 Make clear to them that they are to put themselves under rulers and authorities, to do what they are ordered, to be ready for every good work,
1 Recomende aos irmãos que respeitem as ordens dos que governam e das autoridades, que sejam obedientes e estejam prontos a fazer tudo o que é bom.
2 To say no evil of any man, not to be fighters, to give way to others, to be gentle in behaviour to all men.
2 Aconselhe que não falem mal de ninguém, mas que sejam calmos e pacíficos e tratem todos com educação.
3 For in the past we were foolish, hard in heart, turned from the true way, servants of evil desires and pleasures, living in bad feeling and envy, hated and hating one another.
3 Pois antigamente nós mesmos não tínhamos juízo e éramos rebeldes e maus. Éramos escravos das paixões e dos prazeres de todo tipo e passávamos a nossa vida no meio da malícia e da inveja. Os outros tinham ódio de nós, e nós tínhamos ódio deles.
4 But when the mercy of God our Saviour, and his love to man was seen,
4 Porém, quando Deus, o nosso Salvador, mostrou a sua bondade e o seu amor por todos,
5 Not by works of righteousness which we did ourselves, but in the measure of his mercy, he gave us salvation, through the washing of the new birth and the giving of new life in the Holy Spirit,
5 ele nos salvou porque teve compaixão de nós, e não porque nós tivéssemos feito alguma coisa boa. Ele nos salvou por meio do Espírito Santo, que nos lavou , fazendo com que nascêssemos de novo e dando-nos uma nova vida.
6 Which he gave us freely through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
6 Deus derramou com generosidade o seu Espírito Santo sobre nós, por meio de Jesus Cristo, o nosso Salvador.
7 So that, having been given righteousness through grace, we might have a part in the heritage, the hope of eternal life.
7 E fez isso para que, pela sua graça , nós sejamos aceitos por Deus e recebamos a vida eterna que esperamos.
8 This is a true saying; and it is my desire that you may give certain witness about these things, so that those who have had faith in God may give attention to good works. These things are good and of profit to men;
8 Esse ensinamento é verdadeiro. Quero que você, Tito, insista nesses assuntos, para que os que creem em Deus se interessem em usar o seu tempo fazendo o bem. Isso é bom e útil para todos.
9 But have nothing to do with foolish questionings, and lists of generations, and fights and arguments about the law; for they are of no profit and foolish.
9 Mas evite as discussões tolas, as longas listas de nomes de antepassados , as brigas e os debates a respeito da lei dos judeus. Essas coisas são inúteis e sem valor.
10 A man whose opinions are not those of the church, after a first and second protest, is to be kept out of your society;
10 Se uma pessoa causar divisões entre os irmãos na fé, aconselhe essa pessoa uma ou duas vezes; mas depois disso não tenha nada mais a ver com ela.
11 Clearly he is in error and a sinner, being self-judged.
11 Pois você sabe que uma pessoa como esta abandonou completamente o evangelho , e os seus pecados provam que ela está errada.
12 When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis: for it is my purpose to be there for the winter.
12 Quando eu lhe mandar o irmão Ártemas ou o irmão Tíquico, faça o possível para ir se encontrar comigo na cidade de Nicópolis, pois resolvi passar o inverno lá.
13 Send Zenas, the man of law, and Apollos on their journey with all care, so that they may be in need of nothing.
13 Ajude o advogado Zenas e também Apolo em tudo o que você puder a fim de que eles tenham o que precisarem para a viagem.
14 And let our people go on with good works for necessary purposes, so that they may not be without fruit.
14 Que a nossa gente aprenda a usar o seu tempo fazendo o bem e ajudando os outros em caso de necessidade, para que assim a vida da nossa gente seja útil!
15 All who are with me send you their love. Give our love to our friends in the faith. Grace be with you all.
