1 Thus the Lord Jehovah showed me: and, behold, he formed locusts in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings.
1 Isto me fez ver o Senhor Deus: eis que ele formava gafanhotos ao surgir o rebento da erva serôdia; e era a erva serôdia depois de findas as ceifas do rei.
2 And it came to pass that, when they made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord Jehovah, forgive, I beseech thee: how shall Jacob stand? for he is small.
2 Tendo eles comido de todo a erva da terra, disse eu: Senhor Deus, perdoa, rogo-te; como subsistirá Jacó? Pois ele é pequeno.
3 Jehovah repented concerning this: It shall not be, saith Jehovah.
3 Então, o Senhor se arrependeu disso. Não acontecerá, disse o Senhor .
4 Thus the Lord Jehovah showed me: and, behold, the Lord Jehovah called to contend by fire; and it devoured the great deep, and would have eaten up the land.
4 Isto me mostrou o Senhor Deus: eis que o Senhor Deus chamou o fogo para exercer a sua justiça; este consumiu o grande abismo e devorava a herança do Senhor .
5 Then said I, O Lord Jehovah, cease, I beseech thee: how shall Jacob stand? for he is small.
5 Então, disse eu: Senhor Deus, cessa agora; como subsistirá Jacó? Pois ele é pequeno.
6 Jehovah repented concerning this: this also shall not be, saith the Lord Jehovah.
6 E o Senhor se arrependeu disso. Também não acontecerá, disse o Senhor Deus.
7 Thus he showed me: and, behold, the Lord stood beside a wall made by a plumb-line, with a plumb-line in his hand.
7 Mostrou-me também isto: eis que o Senhor estava sobre um muro levantado a prumo; e tinha um prumo na mão.
8 And Jehovah said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumb-line. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumb-line in the midst of my people Israel; I will not again pass by them any more;
8 O Senhor me disse: Que vês tu, Amós? Respondi: Um prumo. Então, me disse o Senhor: Eis que eu porei o prumo no meio do meu povo de Israel; e jamais passarei por ele.
9 and the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
9 Mas os altos de Isaque serão assolados, e destruídos, os santuários de Israel; e levantar-me-ei com a espada contra a casa de Jeroboão.
10 Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.
10 Então, Amazias, o sacerdote de Betel, mandou dizer a Jeroboão, rei de Israel: Amós tem conspirado contra ti, no meio da casa de Israel; a terra não pode sofrer todas as suas palavras.
11 For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.
11 Porque assim diz Amós: Jeroboão morrerá à espada, e Israel, certamente, será levado para fora de sua terra, em cativeiro.
12 Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thou away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:
12 Então, Amazias disse a Amós: Vai-te, ó vidente, foge para a terra de Judá, e ali come o teu pão, e ali profetiza;
13 but prophesy not again any more at Beth-el; for it is the king’s sanctuary, and it is a royal house.
13 mas em Betel, daqui por diante, já não profetizarás, porque é o santuário do rei e o templo do reino.
14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was a herdsman, and a dresser of sycomore-trees:
14 Respondeu Amós e disse a Amazias: Eu não sou profeta, nem discípulo de profeta, mas boieiro e colhedor de sicômoros.
15 and Jehovah took me from following the flock, and Jehovah said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
15 Mas o Senhor me tirou de após o gado e o Senhor me disse: Vai e profetiza ao meu povo de Israel.
16 Now therefore hear thou the word of Jehovah: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not
16 Ora, pois, ouve a palavra do Senhor . Tu dizes: Não profetizarás contra Israel, nem falarás contra a casa de Isaque.
17 therefore thus saith Jehovah: Thy wife shall be a harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou thyself shalt die in a land that is unclean, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.
17 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor : Tua mulher se prostituirá na cidade, e teus filhos e tuas filhas cairão à espada, e a tua terra será repartida a cordel, e tu morrerás na terra imunda, e Israel, certamente, será levado cativo para fora da sua terra.
