¹ Blessed is he who considers a poor man. LORD will deliver him in the day of evil.

² LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive, and he shall be blessed upon the earth. And thou do not deliver him to the will of his enemies.

² O S enhor o protege e lhe conserva a vida. Ele o faz prosperar na terra e o livra de seus inimigos.

³ LORD will support him upon the bed of languishing. Thou will make all his bed in his sickness.

³ O S enhor cuida dele quando fica doente e lhe restaura a saúde.

⁴ I said, O LORD, have mercy upon me. Heal my soul, for I have sinned against thee.

⁴ Orei: “Ó S enhor , tem misericórdia de mim! Cura-me, pois pequei contra ti!”.

⁵ My enemies speak evil against me, [saying], When will he die, and his name perish?

⁵ Meus inimigos, porém, só falam mal de mim: “Quando ele morrerá e será esquecido?”.

⁶ And if he comes to see [me], he speaks falsehood. His heart gathers iniquity to itself. When he goes abroad, he tells it.

⁶ Visitam-me como se fossem meus amigos, mas todo o tempo reúnem calúnias contra mim e depois as espalham por aí.

⁷ All who hate me whisper together against me. Against me they devise my hurt.

⁷ Todos que me odeiam falam de mim em sussurros e imaginam o pior.

⁸ An evil disease, [they say], clings firm to him. And now that he lays he shall rise up no more.

⁸ “Ele está com uma doença mortal”, dizem, “nunca mais se levantará da cama!”

⁹ Yea, my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, who ate of my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.

¹⁰ But thou, O LORD, have mercy upon me, and raise me up that I may requite them.

¹⁰ S enhor , tem misericórdia de mim! Devolve-me a saúde, para que eu lhes dê o que merecem.

¹¹ By this I know that thou delight in me, because my enemy does not triumph over me.

¹¹ Sei que te agradas de mim, pois não deixaste que meus inimigos triunfassem.

¹² And as for me, thou uphold me in my integrity, and set me before thy face forever.

¹² Preservaste minha vida porque sou inocente e trouxeste-me à tua presença para sempre.

¹³ Blessed be LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.
