1 Now thou shall gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops. He has laid siege against us. They shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.
1 Agora ajunte-se em tropas, ó filha de tropas, porque fomos sitiados, e ferirão com uma vara a face do juiz de Israel.
2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephrathah, which are little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee he shall come forth to me who is to be ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.
2 “E você, Belém-Efrata, que é pequena demais para figurar como grupo de milhares de Judá, de você me sairá aquele que há de reinar em Israel, e cujas origens são desde os tempos antigos, desde os dias da eternidade.”
3 Therefore he will give them up until the time that she who travails has brought forth. Then the residue of his brothers shall return to the sons of Israel.
3 Portanto, o Senhor os entregará até o tempo em que a que está em dores tiver dado à luz; então o restante de seus irmãos voltará aos filhos de Israel.
4 And he shall stand, and shall feed [his flock] in the strength of LORD, in the majesty of the name of LORD his God, and they shall abide. For now he shall be great to the ends of the earth.
4 Ele se manterá firme e apascentará o povo na força do na majestade do nome do seu Deus; e eles habitarão seguros, porque, agora, ele será engrandecido até os confins da terra.
5 And this [man] shall be [our] peace. When the Assyrian shall come into our land, and when he shall tread in our palaces, then we shall raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.
5 E ele será a nossa paz. Quando a Assíria vier à nossa terra e quando entrar em nossas fortalezas, levantaremos contra ela sete pastores e oito chefes do povo.
6 And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances of it. And he shall deliver us from the Assyrian, when he comes into our land, and when he treads within our border.
6 Estes dominarão a terra da Assíria com a espada, e a terra de Ninrode, dentro de suas próprias portas. Assim, nos livrará da Assíria, quando esta vier à nossa terra e invadir as nossas fronteiras.
7 And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples as dew from LORD, as showers upon the grass, that tarry not for man, nor wait for the sons of men.
7 O remanescente de Jacó estará no meio de muitos povos como orvalho do como chuvisco sobre a relva, que não espera pelo homem, nem depende dos filhos de homens.
8 And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he goes through, treads down and tears in pieces, and t
8 O remanescente de Jacó estará entre as nações, no meio de muitos povos, como um leão entre os animais da floresta, como um leãozinho entre os rebanhos de ovelhas, o qual, se passar, ataca e despedaça a presa, sem que ninguém a possa livrar.
9 Let thy hand be lifted up above thine adversaries, and let all thine enemies be cut off.
9 A sua mão se exaltará sobre os seus adversários, e todos os seus inimigos serão eliminados.
10 And it shall come to pass in that day, says LORD, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and will destroy thy chariots,
10 “Naquele dia”, diz o “eliminarei do meio de vocês os cavalos e destruirei os carros de guerra;
11 and I will cut off the cities of thy land, and will throw down all thy strongholds.
11 destruirei as cidades da sua terra e derrubarei todas as fortalezas de vocês;
12 And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thy hand, and thou shall have no [more] soothsayers.
12 arrancarei as feitiçarias das suas mãos, e vocês não mais terão adivinhos;
13 And I will cut off thy graven images and thy pillars out of the midst of thee, and thou shall no more worship the work of thy hands.
13 do meio de vocês eliminarei as imagens de escultura e as colunas, e vocês não mais se inclinarão diante do que fizeram com as suas próprias mãos;
14 And I will pluck up thine Asherim out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy cities.
14 eliminarei do meio de vocês os postes da deusa Aserá e destruirei as cidades de vocês.
15 And I will execute vengeance in anger and wrath upon the nations that did not hearken.
15 Com ira e furor, eu me vingarei das nações que não me obedeceram.”
