1 The burden which Habakkuk the prophet saw.
1 Oráculo recebido em visão pelo profeta Habucuc.
2 O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou will not hear? I cry out to thee of violence, and thou will not save.
2 Até quando, Senhor, implorarei sem que escuteis? Até quando vos clamarei: Violência!, sem que venhais em socorro?
3 Why do thou show me iniquity, and look upon perverseness? For destruction and violence are before me, and there is strife, and contention rises up.
3 Por que me mostrais o espetáculo da iniqüidade, e contemplais vós mesmo essa desgraça? Só vejo diante de mim opressão e violência, nada mais que discórdias e contendas,
4 Therefore the law is slacked, and justice never goes forth. For the wicked man surrounds the righteous man, therefore justice goes forth perverted.
4 porque a lei se acha desacreditada, e não se vê mais a justiça; porque o ímpio cerca o justo, e a eqüidade encontra-se falseada.
5 Behold ye scoffers (LXX/NT), and look, and wonder marvelously. For I am working a work in your days, which ye will not believe though it be told you.
5 Olhai para as nações e vede. Ficareis assombrados, pasmos, porque vou realizar em vossos dias uma obra, que não acreditaríeis, se vo-la contassem.
6 For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, who march through the breadth of the earth to possess dwelling-places that are not theirs.
6 Vou suscitar os caldeus, esse povo feroz e impetuoso, que se espalha através de vastas extensões de terra, para se apoderar de moradas que não são suas.
7 They are fearful and dreadful. Their judgment and their dignity proceed from themselves.
7 Ele é terrível e temível, dele próprio procedem seu direito e sua grandeza.
8 Their horses also are swifter than leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves. And their horsemen press proudly on. Yea, their horsemen come from far. They fly as an eagle that hastens to devour.
8 Seus cavalos são mais ligeiros que as panteras, mais ágeis que os lobos da noite. Seus cavaleiros precipitam-se; eles vêm de longe, e voam como águia que se atira sobre a presa.
9 They come all of them for violence. The set of their faces is forwards, and they gather captives as the sand.
9 Todos correm para a violência, olhos fixos diante de si; amontoam cativos como grãos de areia.
10 Yea, he scoffs at kings, and rulers are a derision to him. He derides every stronghold, for he heaps up dust, and takes it.
10 Esse povo zomba dos reis, os príncipes são o objeto de seus gracejos; ele se ri de todas as fortalezas: levanta montões de terra e toma-as.
11 Then he shall sweep by [as] a wind, and shall pass over, and be guilty; he whose might is his god.
11 Depois o furacão muda de rumo e passa, pratica o mal, ele, cujo deus é a força.
12 Are not thou from everlasting, O LORD my God, my Holy One? We shall not die. O LORD, thou have ordained him for judgment, and thou, O Rock, have established him for correction.
12 Não sois vós, Senhor, desde o princípio, o meu Deus, o meu Santo, o Imortal? Senhor, vós destinastes este povo para fazer justiça, o Rochedo, vós o designastes para aplicar castigos.
13 Thou who are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and who cannot look on perverseness, why do thou look upon those who deal treacherously, and hold thy peace when the wicked man swallows up the man who is more righteous than he,
13 Vossos olhos são por demais puros para verem o mal, não podeis contemplar o sofrimento. Por que olharíeis os ímpios e vos calaríeis, enquanto o malvado devora o justo?
14 and makes men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them?
14 Trataríeis os homens como os peixes do mar, como os répteis que não têm dono...
15 He takes all of them up with the hook. He catches them in his net, and gathers them in his drag. Therefore he rejoices and is glad.
15 Ele pesca todos com o anzol, pega-os no covo, e recolhe-os na rede: e com isso se alegra e exulta.
16 Therefore he sacrifices to his net, and burns incense to his drag, because by them his portion is fat, and his food plentiful.
16 Por isso, oferece sacrifícios à sua nassa, e queima perfumes à sua rede porque, graças a elas, teve pesca abundante e suculento manjar.
17 Shall he therefore empty his net, and not spare to kill the nations continually?
17 Mas, continuará ele a esvaziar sua rede, e a degolar impiedosamente as nações?
