1 And all the congregation of the sons of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, by their journeys, according to the commandment of LORD, and encamped in Rephidim. And there was no water for the people to drink.
1 E toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel partiu do deserto de Sim, segundo as suas jornadas, conforme a ordem do SENHOR, e acampou em Refidim. E não havia água para o povo beber.
2 Therefore the people contended with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said to them, Why do ye contend with me? Why do ye challenge LORD?
2 Por isso o povo contendeu com Moisés, e disse: Dai-nos água para bebermos. E Moisés lhes disse: Por que contendeis comigo? Por que tentais o SENHOR?
3 And the people thirsted there for water. And the people murmured against Moses, and said, Why have thou brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our sons and our cattle with thirst?
3 E o povo estava sedento por água; e o povo murmurou contra Moisés, e disse: Por que nos trouxeste do Egito, para nos matares de sede, a nós e aos nossos filhos, e ao nosso gado?
4 And Moses cried to LORD, saying, What shall I do to this people? They are almost ready to stone me.
4 E Moisés clamou ao SENHOR, dizendo: O que farei com este povo? Estão quase prontos para me apedrejar.
5 And LORD said to Moses, Pass on before the people, and take with thee from the elders of Israel, and thy rod, with which thou smote the river, take in thy hand, and go.
5 E disse o SENHOR a Moisés: Vai adiante do povo, e toma contigo os anciãos de Israel; e o teu cajado, com o qual feriste o rio, toma na tua mão e vai.
6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb, and thou shall smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
6 Eis que estarei em pé diante de ti sobre a rocha em Horebe, e tu ferirás a rocha, e dela sairá água para que o povo possa beber. E Moisés fez assim à vista dos anciãos de Israel.
7 And he called the name of the place Massah and Meribah, because of the contending of the sons of Israel, and because they challenged LORD, saying, Is LORD among us, or not?
7 E chamou o nome do lugar Massá e Meribá, porque contenderam os filhos de Israel, e porque tentaram ao SENHOR, dizendo: Está o SENHOR entre nós ou não?
8 Then Amalek came, and fought with Israel in Rephidim.
8 E veio Amaleque e lutou com Israel em Refidim.
9 And Moses said to Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.
9 E Moisés disse a Josué: Escolhe para nós homens, e vai, luta contra Amaleque. Amanhã estarei no cume do outeiro com o cajado de Deus na minha mão.
10 So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
10 Então Josué fez como Moisés lhe dissera, e lutou contra Amaleque; e Moisés, Arão e Hur subiram ao cume do outeiro.
11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed, and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
11 E aconteceu que, quando Moisés levantava sua mão, Israel prevalecia; e quando ele baixava sua mão, Amaleque prevalecia.
12 But Moses' hands were heavy. And they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat on it. and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side. And his hands were steady until the going do
12 Mas as mãos de Moisés estavam pesadas; e tomaram uma pedra e a colocaram debaixo dele, e ele assentou-se nela. E Arão e Hur apoiaram suas mãos, um de um lado, e o outro, de outro lado; e suas mãos ficaram firmes até que o sol se pôs.
13 And Joshua weakened Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
13 E Josué derrotou Amaleque e seu povo ao fio da espada.
14 And LORD said to Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
14 E o SENHOR disse a Moisés: Escreve isto por memorial em um livro, e repita-o nos ouvidos de Josué, porquanto eu eliminarei totalmente a memória de Amaleque de debaixo do céu.
15 And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it LORD-nissi.
15 E Moisés construiu um altar, e chamou seu nome Jeová Nissi,
16 And he said, LORD has sworn, LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.
16 porque disse: Porque o SENHOR jurou que o SENHOR fará guerra contra Amaleque de geração em geração.
