1 In the twenty-third year of Joash the son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, [and reigned] seventeen years.
1 No vigésimo terceiro ano de Joás, o filho de Acazias, rei de Judá, Jeoacaz, o filho de Jeú, começou a reinar sobre Israel em Samaria, e reinou por dezessete anos.
2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of LORD, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin. He did not depart from it.
2 E ele fez aquilo que era mau à vista do SENHOR, e seguiu os pecados de Jeroboão, o filho de Nebate, o qual fez Israel pecar; disso ele não se afastou.
3 And the anger of LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, continually.
3 E a ira do SENHOR foi acesa contra Israel, e ele os entregou na mão de Hazael, rei da Síria, e na mão de Ben-Hadade, o filho de Hazael, todos os seus dias.
4 And Jehoahaz besought LORD, and LORD hearkened to him, for he saw the oppression of Israel, how that the king of Syria oppressed them.
4 E Jeoacaz buscou ao SENHOR, e o SENHOR atentou a ele; porque ele viu a opressão de Israel, porque o rei da Síria os oprimia.
5 (And LORD gave Israel a savior, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians, and the sons of Israel dwelt in their tents as beforetime.
5 (E o SENHOR deu a Israel um salvador, de modo que eles saíram debaixo da mão dos sírios; e os filhos de Israel habitaram nas suas tendas, como antes.
6 Nevertheless they did not depart from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, with which he made Israel to sin, but walked therein. And the Asherah also remained in Samaria.)
6 Todavia, eles não se afastaram dos pecados da casa de Jeroboão, que fez Israel pecar, mas neles andaram; e ali também permaneceu o bosque em Samaria).
7 For he did not leave to Jehoahaz of the people except fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen, for the king of Syria destroyed them, and made them like the dust in threshing.
7 Tampouco deixou do povo para Jeoacaz senão cinquenta cavaleiros, e dez carruagens, e dez mil homens a pé; porque o rei da Síria lhes havia destruído, e lhes havia feito como o pó da debulha.
8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
8 Ora, o restante dos atos de Jeoacaz, e tudo o que ele fez, e todo o seu poder, não estão escritos no livro das Crônicas dos reis de Israel?
9 And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria. And Joash his son reigned in his stead.
9 E Jeoacaz dormiu com os seus pais; e eles o sepultaram em Samaria; e Jeoás, o seu filho, reinou no seu lugar.
10 In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz began to reign over Israel in Samaria, [and reigned] sixteen years.
10 No trigésimo sétimo ano de Joás, rei de Judá, começou Jeoás, o filho de Jeoacaz, a reinar sobre Israel em Samaria, e reinou por dezesseis anos.
11 And he did that which was evil in the sight of LORD. He did not depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin, but he walked therein.
11 E ele fez aquilo que era mau à vista do SENHOR, e não se afastou de todos os pecados de Jeroboão, o filho de Nebate, que fez Israel pecar; mas neles andou.
12 Now the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might with which he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
12 E o restante dos atos de Jeoás, e tudo o que ele fez, e o poder com que ele lutou contra Amazias, rei de Judá, não estão escritos no livro das Crônicas dos reis de Israel?
13 And Joash slept with his fathers, and Jeroboam sat upon his throne. And Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
13 E Jeoás dormiu com os seus pais; e Jeroboão se assentou sobre o seu trono; e Jeoás foi sepultado em Samaria com os reis de Israel.
14 Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness of which he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept over him, and said, My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and the horsemen of it!
14 Ora, Eliseu havia ficado enfermo com a enfermidade da qual ele morreu. E Jeoás, o rei de Israel, desceu até ele, e chorou sobre a sua face, e disse: Ó meu pai, meu pai! A carruagem de Israel, e os seus cavaleiros.
15 And Elisha said to him, Take bow and arrows. And he took to him bow and arrows.
15 E Eliseu disse-lhe: Toma um arco e flechas. E ele tomou consigo um arco e flechas.
16 And he said to the king of Israel, Put thy hand upon the bow. And he put his hand [upon it]. And Elisha laid his hands upon the king's hands.
16 E ele disse ao rei de Israel: Põe a tua mão sobre o arco. E pôs sobre ele a sua mão; e Eliseu pôs a sua mão sobre as mãos do rei.
17 And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, LORD's arrow of victory, even the arrow of victory over Syria, for thou shall smite the Syrians in Aphek till thou have con
17 E disse-lhe: Abre a janela do lado do oriente. E ele a abriu. Então, Eliseu disse: Atira. E ele atirou. E ele disse: A flecha do livramento do SENHOR, e a flecha do livramento da Síria; porque tu ferirás os sírios em Afeque, até que os tenhas consumido.
18 And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stopped.
18 E ele disse: Toma as flechas. E ele as tomou. E ele disse ao rei de Israel: Fere a terra. E ele feriu três vezes, e cessou.
19 And the man of God was angry with him, and said, Thou should have smitten five or six times. Then thou would have smitten Syria till thou had consumed it, whereas now thou shall smite Syria but thrice.
19 E o homem de Deus ficou irado com ele, e disse: Tu deverias ter ferido cinco ou seis vezes; então terias ferido a Síria até tê-la consumido; posto que agora tu ferirás a Síria não mais do que três vezes.
20 And Elisha died, and they buried him. Now the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.
20 E Eliseu morreu, e eles o sepultaram. E os bandos dos moabitas invadiram a terra pela chegada do ano.
21 And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band, and they cast the man into the sepulcher of Elisha. And as soon as the man touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
21 E sucedeu, enquanto eles estavam sepultando um homem, eis que espionaram um bando de homens; e lançaram o homem no sepulcro de Eliseu; e quando o homem foi largado abaixo, e tocou nos ossos de Eliseu, ele reviveu, e levantou-se sobre os seus pés.
22 And Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.
22 Porém, Hazael, rei da Síria, oprimiu Israel todos os dias de Jeoacaz.
23 But LORD was gracious to them, and had compassion on them, and had respect to them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither did he cast them from his presence as yet.
23 E o SENHOR foi gracioso para com eles, e deles teve compaixão, e teve respeito para com eles, por causa do seu pacto com Abraão, Isaque e Jacó e não quis destruí-los, tampouco ele os lançou da sua presença até aquele momento.
24 And Hazael king of Syria died, and Benhadad his son reigned in his stead.
24 Assim, Hazael, rei da Síria, morreu; e Ben-Hadade, o seu filho, reinou no seu lugar.
25 And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz again took out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities, which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times Joash smote him, and recovered the cities of Israel.
25 E Jeoás, o filho de Jeoacaz, tomou novamente da mão de Ben-Hadade, o filho de Hazael, as cidades que ele havia tomado da mão de Jeoacaz, o seu pai, por guerra. Três vezes Jeoás o venceu, e recuperou as cidades de Israel.
