1 Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance. And he joined affinity with Ahab.
1 Tinha Josafá riquezas e glória em abundância; e aparentou-se com Acabe.
2 And after certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people who were with him, and moved him to go up [with him] to Ramoth-gilead.
2 Ao cabo de alguns anos, foi ter com Acabe, em Samaria. Acabe matou ovelhas e bois em abundância, para ele e para o povo que viera com ele; e o persuadiu a subir, com ele, a Ramote-Gileade.
3 And Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Will thou go with me to Ramoth-gilead? And he answered him, I am as thou are, and my people as thy people, and [will be] with thee in the war.
3 Acabe, rei de Israel, perguntou a Josafá, rei de Judá: Irás tu, comigo, a Ramote-Gileade? Respondeu-lhe Josafá: Serei como tu és, o meu povo, como o teu povo; iremos, contigo, à peleja.
4 And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, Inquire first, I pray thee, for the word of LORD.
4 Disse mais Josafá ao rei de Israel: Consulta, primeiro, a palavra do Senhor .
5 Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, Shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up. For God will deliver it into the hand of the king.
5 Então, o rei de Israel ajuntou os profetas, quatrocentos homens, e lhes disse: Iremos à peleja contra Ramote-Gileade ou deixarei de ir? Eles disseram:
6 But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of LORD besides, that we may inquire of him?
6 Sobe, porque Deus a entregará nas mãos do rei. Disse, porém, Josafá: Não há, aqui, ainda algum profeta do Senhor , para o consultarmos?
7 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of LORD, but I hate him. For he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil; the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said
7 Respondeu o rei de Israel a Josafá: Há um ainda, por quem podemos consultar o Senhor ; porém eu o aborreço, porque nunca profetiza de mim o que é bom, mas somente o que é mau.
8 Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.
8 Este é Micaías, filho de Inlá. Disse Josafá: Não fale o rei assim. Então, o rei de Israel chamou um oficial e disse: Traze-me depressa a Micaías, filho de Inlá.
9 Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah each sat on his throne, arrayed in their robes. And they were sitting in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets were prophesying before th
9 O rei de Israel e Josafá, rei de Judá, estavam assentados, cada um no seu trono, vestidos de trajes reais, numa eira à entrada da porta de Samaria; e todos os profetas profetizavam diante deles.
10 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made for him horns of iron, and said, Thus says LORD, With these thou shall push the Syrians until they be consumed.
10 Zedequias, filho de Quenaana, fez para si uns chifres de ferro e disse: Assim diz o Senhor : Com este, escornearás os siros, até de todo os consumir.
11 And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper. For LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.
11 Todos os profetas profetizaram assim, dizendo: Sobe a Ramote-Gileade e triunfarás, porque o Senhor a entregará nas mãos do rei.
12 And the messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets [are] good to the king with one mouth. Let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good.
12 O mensageiro que fora chamar a Micaías falou-lhe, dizendo: Eis que as palavras dos profetas, a uma voz, predizem coisas boas para o rei; seja, pois, a tua palavra como a palavra de um deles, e fala o que é bom.
13 And Micaiah said, As LORD lives, what my God says, that will I speak.
13 Respondeu Micaías: Tão certo como vive o Senhor , o que meu Deus me disser, isso falarei.
14 And when he came to the king, the king said to him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go ye up, and prosper, and they shall be delivered into your hand.
14 E, vindo ele ao rei, este lhe perguntou: Micaías, iremos a Ramote-Gileade, à peleja, ou deixarei de ir? Ele respondeu: Sobe e triunfarás, porque eles serão entregues nas vossas mãos.
15 And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of LORD?
15 O rei lhe disse: Quantas vezes te conjurarei que não me fales senão a verdade em nome do Senhor ?
16 And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And LORD said, These have no master. Let them return every man to his house in peace.
16 Então, disse ele: Vi todo o Israel disperso pelos montes, como ovelhas que não têm pastor; e disse o Senhor : Estes não têm dono; torne cada um em paz para sua casa.
17 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?
17 Então, o rei de Israel disse a Josafá: Não te disse eu que ele não profetiza a meu respeito o que é bom, mas somente o que é mau?
18 And [Micaiah] said, Therefore hear ye the word of LORD. I saw LORD sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing at his right hand and at his left.
18 Micaías prosseguiu: Ouvi, pois, a palavra do Senhor : Vi o Senhor assentado no seu trono, e todo o exército do céu estava à sua direita e à sua esquerda.
19 And LORD said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one spoke saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.
19 Perguntou o Senhor : Quem enganará Acabe, o rei de Israel, para que suba e caia em Ramote-Gileade? Um dizia desta maneira, e outro, de outra.
20 And there came forth a spirit, and stood before LORD, and said, I will entice him. And LORD said to him, With what?
20 Então, saiu um espírito, e se apresentou diante do Senhor , e disse: Eu o enganarei. Perguntou-lhe o Senhor : Com quê?
21 And he said, I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shall entice him, and shall also prevail. Go forth, and do so.
21 Respondeu ele: Sairei e serei espírito mentiroso na boca de todos os seus profetas. Disse o Senhor : Tu o enganarás e ainda prevalecerás; sai e faze-o assim.
22 Now therefore, behold, LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets. And LORD has spoken evil concerning thee.
22 Eis que o Senhor pôs o espírito mentiroso na boca de todos estes teus profetas e o Senhor falou o que é mau contra ti.
23 Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smote Micaiah upon the cheek, and said, Which way did the Spirit of LORD go from me to speak to thee?
23 Então, Zedequias, filho de Quenaana, deu uma bofetada em Micaías e disse:
24 And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shall see on that day when thou shall go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.
24 Por onde saiu o Espírito do Senhor para falar a ti? Disse Micaías: Eis que o verás naquele mesmo dia, quando entrares de câmara em câmara, para te esconderes.
25 And the king of Israel said, Take ye Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son,
25 Então, disse o rei de Israel: Tomai a Micaías e devolvei-o a Amom, governador da cidade, e a Joás, filho do rei;
26 and say, Thus says the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.
26 e direis: Assim diz o rei: Metei este homem na casa do cárcere e angustiai-o com escassez de pão e de água, até que eu volte em paz.
27 And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, LORD has not spoken by me. And he said, Hear, ye peoples, all of you.
27 Disse Micaías: Se voltares em paz, não falou o Senhor , na verdade, por mim. Disse mais: Ouvi isto, vós, todos os povos!
28 So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.
28 Subiram o rei de Israel e Josafá, rei de Judá, a Ramote-Gileade.
29 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and go into the battle, but put thou on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself, and they went into the battle.
29 Disse o rei de Israel a Josafá: Eu me disfarçarei e entrarei na peleja; tu, porém, traja as tuas vestes. Disfarçou-se, pois, o rei de Israel, e entraram na peleja.
30 Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel.
30 Ora, o rei da Síria dera ordem aos capitães dos seus carros, dizendo: Não pelejareis nem contra pequeno nem contra grande, mas somente contra o rei de Israel.
31 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out. And LORD helped him, and God moved them
31 Vendo os capitães dos carros a Josafá, disseram: Este é o rei de Israel. Portanto, a ele se dirigiram para o atacar. Josafá, porém, gritou, e o Senhor o socorreu; Deus os desviou dele.
32 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
32 Vendo os capitães dos carros que não era o rei de Israel, deixaram de o perseguir.
33 And a certain man drew his bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of the chariot, Turn thy hand, and carry me out of the army. For I am severely wounded.
33 Então, um homem entesou o arco e, atirando ao acaso, feriu o rei de Israel por entre as juntas da sua armadura; então, disse este ao seu cocheiro: Vira e leva-me para fora do combate, porque estou gravemente ferido.
34 And the battle increased that day. However the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the evening. And about the time of the going down of the sun he died.
34 A peleja tornou-se renhida naquele dia; quanto ao rei, segurou-se a si mesmo de pé no carro defronte dos siros, até à tarde, mas, ao pôr do sol, morreu.
