1 And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round ab
1 E Salomão se aparentou com Faraó, rei do Egito; e tomou a filha de Faraó, e a trouxe à cidade de Davi, até que acabasse de edificar a sua casa, e a casa do SENHOR, e a muralha de Jerusalém em redor.
2 Only the people sacrificed in the high places, because there was no house built for the name of LORD until those days.
2 Entretanto, o povo sacrificava sobre os altos; porque até àqueles dias ainda não se havia edificado casa ao nome do Senhor.
3 And Solomon loved LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father. Only he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
3 E Salomão amava ao Senhor, andando nos estatutos de Davi seu pai; somente que nos altos sacrificava, e queimava incenso.
4 And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place. Solomon offered a thousand burnt-offerings upon that altar.
4 E foi o rei a Gibeom para lá sacrificar, porque aquele era o alto maior; mil holocaustos sacrificou Salomão naquele altar.
5 In Gibeon LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.
5 E em Gibeom apareceu o Senhor a Salomão de noite em sonhos; e disse-lhe Deus: Pede o que queres que eu te dê.
6 And Solomon said, Thou have shown to thy servant David my father great loving kindness, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee. And thou have kept for him this great
6 E disse Salomão: De grande beneficência usaste tu com teu servo Davi, meu pai, como também ele andou contigo em verdade, e em justiça, e em retidão de coração, perante a tua face; e guardaste-lhe esta grande beneficência, e lhe deste um filho que se assentasse no seu trono, como se vê neste dia.
7 And now, O LORD my God, thou have made thy servant king instead of David my father. And I am but a little child; I know not how to go out or come in.
7 Agora, pois, ó Senhor meu Deus, tu fizeste reinar a teu servo em lugar de Davi meu pai; e sou apenas um menino pequeno; não sei como sair, nem como entrar.
8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou have chosen, a great people that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
8 E teu servo está no meio do teu povo que elegeste; povo grande, que nem se pode contar, nem numerar, pela sua multidão.
9 Give thy servant therefore an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to judge this thy great people?
9 A teu servo, pois, dá um coração entendido para julgar a teu povo, para que prudentemente discirna entre o bem e o mal; porque quem poderia julgar a este teu tão grande povo?
10 And the speech pleased LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing.
10 E esta palavra pareceu boa aos olhos do Senhor, de que Salomão pedisse isso.
11 And God said to him, Because thou have asked this thing, and have not asked for thyself long life, neither have asked riches for thyself, nor have asked the life of thine enemies, but have asked for thyself understanding to discern
11 E disse-lhe Deus: Porquanto pediste isso, e não pediste para ti muitos dias, nem pediste para ti riquezas, nem pediste a vida de teus inimigos; mas pediste para ti entendimento, para discernires o que é justo;
12 behold, I have done according to thy word. Lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart, so that there has been none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like thee.
12 Eis que fiz segundo as tuas palavras; eis que te dei um coração tão sábio e entendido, que antes de ti igual não houve, e depois de ti igual não se levantará.
13 And I have also given thee that which thou have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there shall not be any among the kings like thee all thy days.
13 E também até o que não pediste te dei, assim riquezas como glória; de modo que não haverá um igual entre os reis, por todos os teus dias.
14 And if thou will walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David walked, then I will lengthen thy days.
14 E, se andares nos meus caminhos, guardando os meus estatutos, e os meus mandamentos, como andou Davi teu pai, também prolongarei os teus dias.
15 And Solomon awoke, and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of LORD, and offered up burnt-offerings, and offered peace-offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.
15 E acordou Salomão, e eis que era sonho. E indo a Jerusalém, pôs-se perante a arca da aliança do Senhor, e sacrificou holocausto, e preparou sacrifícios pacíficos, e fez um banquete a todos os seus servos.
16 Then two women who were harlots came to the king, and stood before him.
16 Então vieram duas mulheres prostitutas ao rei, e se puseram perante ele.
17 And the one woman said, Oh, my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house. And I was delivered of a child with her in the house.
17 E disse-lhe uma das mulheres: Ah! senhor meu, eu e esta mulher moramos numa casa; e tive um filho, estando com ela naquela casa.
18 And it came to pass the third day after I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also. And we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, except we two in the house.
18 E sucedeu que, ao terceiro dia, depois do meu parto, teve um filho também esta mulher; estávamos juntas; nenhum estranho estava conosco na casa; somente nós duas naquela casa.
19 And this woman's child died in the night, because she lay upon it.
19 E de noite morreu o filho desta mulher, porquanto se deitara sobre ele.
20 And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me while thy handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.
20 E levantou-se à meia-noite, e tirou o meu filho do meu lado, enquanto dormia a tua serva, e o deitou no seu seio; e a seu filho morto deitou no meu seio.
21 And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead. But when I had looked at it in the morning, behold, it was not my son whom I bore.
21 E, levantando-me eu pela manhã, para dar de mamar a meu filho, eis que estava morto; mas, atentando pela manhã para ele, eis que não era meu filho, que eu havia tido.
22 And the other woman said, No, but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And the other woman said, No, but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spoke before the king.
22 Então disse a outra mulher: Não, mas o vivo é meu filho, e teu filho o morto. Porém esta disse: Não, por certo, o morto é teu filho, e meu filho o vivo. Assim falaram perante o rei.
23 Then the king said, The one says, This is my son that lives, and thy son is the dead. And the other says, No, but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.
23 Então disse o rei: Esta diz: Este que vive é meu filho, e teu filho o morto; e esta outra diz: Não, por certo, o morto é teu filho e meu filho o vivo.
24 And the king said, Fetch me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.
24 Disse mais o rei: Trazei-me uma espada. E trouxeram uma espada diante do rei.
25 And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.
25 E disse o rei: Dividi em duas partes o menino vivo; e dai metade a uma, e metade a outra.
26 Then the woman whose the living child was spoke to the king, for her heart yearned over her son, and she said, Oh, my lord, give her the living child, and by no means kill it. But the other said, It shall be neither mine nor thine.
26 Mas a mulher, cujo filho era o vivo, falou ao rei (porque as suas entranhas se lhe enterneceram por seu filho), e disse: Ah! senhor meu, dai-lhe o menino vivo, e de modo nenhum o mateis. Porém a outra dizia: Nem teu nem meu seja; dividi-o.
27 Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and by no means kill it; she is the mother of it.
27 Então respondeu o rei, e disse: Dai a esta o menino vivo, e de maneira nenhuma o mateis, porque esta é sua mãe.
28 And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged. And they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do justice.
28 E todo o Israel ouviu o juízo que havia dado o rei, e temeu ao rei; porque viram que havia nele a sabedoria de Deus, para fazer justiça.
