1 Now the days of David drew near that he should die. And he charged Solomon his son, saying,
1 Aproximando-se os dias da morte de Davi, deu ele ordens a Salomão, seu filho, dizendo:
2 I am going the way of all the earth. Be thou strong therefore, and show thyself a man,
2 Eu vou pelo caminho de todos os mortais. Coragem, pois, e sê homem!
3 and keep the charge of LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, [and] his commandments, and his ordinances, and his testimonies, according to that which is written in the law of Moses, that thou may prosper in all t
3 Guarda os preceitos do Senhor , teu Deus, para andares nos seus caminhos, para guardares os seus estatutos, e os seus mandamentos, e os seus juízos, e os seus testemunhos, como está escrito na Lei de Moisés, para que prosperes em tudo quanto fizeres e por onde quer que fores;
4 That LORD may establish his word which he spoke concerning me, saying, If thy sons take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee a man on the throne of Is
4 para que o Senhor confirme a palavra que falou de mim, dizendo: Se teus filhos guardarem o seu caminho, para andarem perante a minha face fielmente, de todo o seu coração e de toda a sua alma, nunca te faltará sucessor ao trono de Israel.
5 Moreover thou also know what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, even what he did to the two captains of the armies of Israel, to Abner the son of Ner, and to Amasa the son of Jether, whom he killed, and shed the blood of war in pea
5 Também tu sabes o que me fez Joabe, filho de Zeruia, e o que fez aos dois comandantes do exército de Israel, a Abner, filho de Ner, e a Amasa, filho de Jéter, os quais matou, e, em tempo de paz, vingou o sangue derramado em guerra, manchando com ele o cinto que trazia nos lombos e as sandálias nos pés.
6 Do therefore according to thy wisdom, and do not let his hoar head go down to Sheol in peace.
6 Faze, pois, segundo a tua sabedoria e não permitas que suas cãs desçam à sepultura em paz.
7 But show kindness to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those who eat at thy table, for so they came to me when I fled from Absalom thy brother.
7 Porém, com os filhos de Barzilai, o gileadita, usarás de benevolência, e estarão entre os que comem à tua mesa, porque assim se houveram comigo, quando eu fugia por causa de teu irmão Absalão.
8 And, behold, there is with thee Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim. But he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swore to him by LORD, sayin
8 Eis que também contigo está Simei, filho de Gera, filho de Benjamim, de Baurim, que me maldisse com dura maldição, no dia em que ia a Maanaim; porém ele saiu a encontrar-se comigo junto ao Jordão, e eu, pelo Senhor , lhe jurei, dizendo que o não mataria à espada.
9 Now therefore do not hold him guiltless, for thou are a wise man, and thou will know what thou ought to do to him, and thou shall bring his hoar head down to Sheol with blood.
9 Mas, agora, não o tenhas por inculpável, pois és homem prudente e bem saberás o que lhe hás de fazer para que as suas cãs desçam à sepultura com sangue.
10 And David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.
10 Davi descansou com seus pais e foi sepultado na Cidade de Davi.
11 And the days that David reigned over Israel were forty years. He reigned seven years in Hebron, and he reigned thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
11 Foi o tempo que Davi reinou sobre Israel quarenta anos: sete anos em Hebrom e em Jerusalém trinta e três.
12 And Solomon sat upon the throne of David his father, and his kingdom was established greatly.
12 Salomão assentou-se no trono de Davi, seu pai, e o seu reino se fortificou sobremaneira.
13 Then Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. And she said, Do thou come peaceably? And he said, Peaceably.
13 Então, veio Adonias, filho de Hagite, a Bate-Seba, mãe de Salomão; disse ela: É de paz a tua vinda? Respondeu ele: É de paz.
14 He said moreover, I have something to say to thee. And she said, Say on.
14 E acrescentou: Uma palavra tenho que dizer-te. Ela disse: Fala.
15 And he said, Thou know that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign. However the kingdom is turned about, and has become my brother's, for it was his from LORD.
15 Disse, pois, ele: Bem sabes que o reino era meu, e todo o Israel esperava que eu reinasse, ainda que o reino se transferiu e veio a ser de meu irmão, porque do Senhor ele o recebeu.
16 And now I ask one petition of thee; do not deny me. And she said to him, Say on.
16 Agora, um só pedido te faço; não mo rejeites. Ela lhe disse: Fala.
17 And he said, Speak, I pray thee, to Solomon the king (for he will not say no thee), that he give me Abishag the Shunammite to wife.
17 Ele disse: Peço-te que fales ao rei Salomão (pois não to recusará) que me dê por mulher a Abisague, sunamita.
18 And Bathsheba said, Well, I will speak for thee to the king.
18 Respondeu Bate-Seba: Bem, eu falarei por ti ao rei.
19 Bathsheba therefore went to king Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself to her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a throne to be set for the king's mother. And she sat on his
19 Foi, pois, Bate-Seba ter com o rei Salomão, para falar-lhe por Adonias. O rei se levantou a encontrar-se com ela e se inclinou diante dela; então, se assentou no seu trono e mandou pôr uma cadeira para sua mãe, e ela se assentou à sua mão direita.
20 Then she said, I ask one small petition of thee; do not deny me. And the king said to her, Ask on, my mother, for I will not deny thee.
20 Então, disse ela: Só um pequeno pedido te faço; não mo rejeites. E o rei lhe disse: Pede, minha mãe, porque to não recusarei.
21 And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother to wife.
21 Disse ela: Dê-se Abisague, a sunamita, a Adonias, teu irmão, por mulher.
22 And king Solomon answered and said to his mother, And why do thou ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Ask for him the kingdom also, for he is my elder brother, even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of
22 Então, respondeu o rei Salomão e disse a sua mãe: Por que pedes Abisague, a sunamita, para Adonias? Pede também para ele o reino (porque é meu irmão maior), para ele, digo, e também para Abiatar, o sacerdote, e para Joabe, filho de Zeruia.
23 Then king Solomon swore by LORD, saying, God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah has not spoken this word against his own life.
23 E jurou o rei Salomão pelo Senhor , dizendo: Deus me faça o que lhe aprouver, se não falou Adonias esta palavra contra a sua vida.
24 Now therefore as LORD lives, who has established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who has made me a house as he promised, surely Adonijah shall be put to death this day.
24 Agora, pois, tão certo como vive o Senhor , que me estabeleceu e me fez assentar no trono de Davi, meu pai, e me edificou casa, como tinha dito, hoje, morrerá Adonias.
25 And king Solomon sent by Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and he fell upon him so that he died.
25 Enviou o rei Salomão a Benaia, filho de Joiada, o qual arremeteu contra ele, de sorte que morreu.
26 And the king said to Abiathar the priest, Get thee to Anathoth, to thine own fields, for thou are worthy of death. But I will not at this time put thee to death, because thou bore the ark of lord LORD before David my father, and be
26 E a Abiatar, o sacerdote, disse o rei: Vai para Anatote, para teus campos, porque és homem digno de morte; porém não te matarei hoje, porquanto levaste a arca do Senhor Deus diante de Davi, meu pai, e porque te afligiste com todas as aflições de meu pai.
27 So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest to LORD, that he might fulfill the word of LORD, which he spoke concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.
27 Expulsou, pois, Salomão a Abiatar, para que não mais fosse sacerdote do Senhor , cumprindo, assim, a palavra que o Senhor dissera sobre a casa de Eli, em Siló.
28 And the news came to Joab, for Joab had turned after Adonijah, though he did not turn after Absalom. And Joab fled to the tent of LORD, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
28 Chegando esta notícia a Joabe (porque Joabe se tinha desviado seguindo a Adonias, ainda que se não desviara seguindo a Absalão), fugiu ele para o tabernáculo do Senhor e pegou nas pontas do altar.
29 And it was told king Solomon, Joab has fled to the tent of LORD, and, behold, he is by the altar. Then Solomon sent Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, saying, Go, fall upon him.
29 Foi dito ao rei Salomão que Joabe havia fugido para o tabernáculo do Senhor ; e eis que está junto ao altar. Enviou, pois, Salomão a Benaia, filho de Joiada, dizendo: Vai, arremete contra ele.
30 And Benaiah came to the tent of LORD, and said to him, Thus says the king, Come forth. And he said, No, but I will die here. And Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, Thus said Joab, and thus he answered me.
30 Foi Benaia ao tabernáculo do Senhor e disse a Joabe: Assim diz o rei: Sai daí. Ele respondeu: Não, morrerei aqui. Benaia tornou com a resposta ao rei, dizendo: Assim falou Joabe e assim me respondeu.
31 And the king said to him, Do as he has said, and fall upon him, and bury him, that thou may take away the blood, which Joab shed without cause, from me and from my father's house.
31 Disse-lhe o rei: Faze como ele te disse; arremete contra ele e sepulta-o, para que tires de mim e da casa de meu pai a culpa do sangue que Joabe sem causa derramou.
32 And LORD will return his blood upon his own head, because he fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and killed them with the sword, and my father David did not know it, [namely], Abner the son of Ner, captain of the a
32 Assim, o Senhor fará recair a culpa de sangue de Joabe sobre a sua cabeça, porque arremeteu contra dois homens mais justos e melhores do que ele e os matou à espada, sem que Davi, meu pai, o soubesse; isto é: a Abner, filho de Ner, comandante do exército de Israel, e a Amasa, filho de Jéter, comandante do exército de Judá.
33 So shall their blood return upon the head of Joab, and upon the head of his seed forever. But to David, and to his seed, and to his house, and to his throne, there shall be peace forever from LORD.
33 Assim, recairá o sangue destes sobre a cabeça de Joabe e sobre a cabeça da sua descendência para sempre; mas a Davi, e à sua descendência, e à sua casa, e ao seu trono, dará o Senhor paz para todo o sempre.
34 Then Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up, and fell upon him, and killed him. And he was buried in his own house in the wilderness.
34 Subiu Benaia, filho de Joiada, arremeteu contra ele e o matou; e foi sepultado em sua casa, no deserto.
35 And the king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his room over the army. And the king put Zadok the priest in the place of Abiathar.
35 Em lugar de Joabe constituiu o rei por comandante do exército a Benaia, filho de Joiada, e, em lugar de Abiatar, a Zadoque por sacerdote.
36 And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said to him, Build for thee a house in Jerusalem, and dwell there, and go not forth from there anywhere.
36 Depois, mandou o rei chamar a Simei e lhe disse: Edifica-te uma casa em Jerusalém, e habita aí, e daí não saias, nem para uma parte nem para outra.
37 For on the day thou go out, and pass over the brook Kidron, know thou for certain that thou shall surely die; thy blood shall be upon thine own head.
37 Porque há de ser que, no dia em que saíres e passares o ribeiro de Cedrom, fica sabendo que serás morto; o teu sangue cairá, então, sobre a tua cabeça.
38 And Shimei said to the king, The saying is good. As my lord the king has said, so will thy servant do. And Shimei dwelt in Jerusalem many days.
38 Simei disse ao rei: Boa é essa palavra; como disse o rei, meu senhor, assim fará o teu servo. E Simei habitou em Jerusalém muitos dias.
39 And it came to pass at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei ran away to Achish, son of Maacah, king of Gath. And they told Shimei, saying, Behold, thy servants are in Gath.
39 Ao cabo de três anos, porém, dois escravos de Simei fugiram para Aquis, filho de Maaca, rei de Gate; e deram parte a Simei, dizendo: Eis que teus servos estão em Gate.
40 And Shimei arose, and saddled his donkey, and went to Gath to Achish to seek his servants. And Shimei went, and brought his servants from Gath.
40 Então, Simei se dispôs, albardou o seu jumento e foi a Gate ter com Aquis em busca dos seus escravos; e trouxe de Gate os seus escravos.
41 And it was told Solomon that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath, and was come again.
41 Foi Salomão avisado de que Simei de Jerusalém fora a Gate e já havia voltado.
42 And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said to him, Did I not adjure thee by LORD, and protest to thee, saying, Know for certain, that on the day thou go out, and walk abroad anywhere, thou shall surely die? And thou said to
42 Então, mandou o rei chamar a Simei e lhe disse: Não te fiz eu jurar pelo Senhor e não te protestei, dizendo: No dia em que saíres para uma ou outra parte, fica sabendo que serás morto? E tu me disseste: Boa é essa palavra que ouvi.
43 Why then have thou not kept the oath of LORD, and the commandment that I have charged thee with?
43 Por que, pois, não guardaste o juramento do Senhor , nem a ordem que te dei?
44 The king said moreover to Shimei, Thou know all the iniquity which thy heart is privy to, what thou did to David my father. Therefore LORD shall return thy iniquity upon thine own head.
44 Disse mais o rei a Simei: Bem sabes toda a maldade que o teu coração reconhece que fizeste a Davi, meu pai; pelo que o Senhor te fez recair sobre a cabeça a tua maldade.
45 But king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before LORD forever.
45 Mas o rei Salomão será abençoado, e o trono de Davi, mantido perante o Senhor , para sempre.
46 So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And he went out, and fell upon him so that he died. And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.
46 O rei deu ordem a Benaia, filho de Joiada, o qual saiu e arremeteu contra ele, de sorte que morreu; assim se firmou o reino sob o domínio de Salomão.
