1 And the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" did|strong="H6213" evil|strong="H7451" again|strong="H3254" in the sight|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* delivered|strong="H5414" them into the hand|strong="H3027" of the Philistines|strong="H6430" forty|strong="H0705" years|strong="H8141".
2 And there was a certain|strong="H0259" man|strong="H0376" of Zorah|strong="H6881", of the family|strong="H4940" of the Danites|strong="H1839", whose name|strong="H8034" was Manoah|strong="H4495"; and his wife|strong="H0802" was barren|strong="H6135", and bare|strong="H3205" not.
3 And the angel|strong="H4397" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* appeared|strong="H7200" unto the woman|strong="H0802", and said|strong="H0559" unto her, Behold now, thou art barren|strong="H6135", and bearest|strong="H3205" not: but thou shalt conceive|strong="H2029", and bear|strong="H3205" a son|strong="H1121".
4 Now therefore beware|strong="H8104", I pray thee, and drink|strong="H8354" not wine|strong="H3196" nor strong drink|strong="H7941", and eat|strong="H0398" not any unclean|strong="H2931" thing:
5 For, lo, thou shalt conceive|strong="H2030", and bear|strong="H3205" a son|strong="H1121"; and no razor|strong="H4177" shall come|strong="H5927" on his head|strong="H7218": for the child|strong="H5288" shall be a Nazarite|strong="H5139" unto God|strong="H0430" from the womb|strong="H0990": and he shall begin|strong="H2490" to deliver|strong="H3467" Israel|strong="H3478" out of the hand|strong="H3027" of the Philistines|strong="H6430".
6 Then the woman|strong="H0802" came|strong="H0935" and told|strong="H0559" her husband|strong="H0376", saying|strong="H0559", A man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430" came|strong="H0935" unto me, and his countenance|strong="H4758" was like the countenance|strong="H4758" of an angel|strong="H4397" of God|strong="H0430", very|strong="H3966" terrible|strong="H3372": but I asked|strong="H7592" him not whence he was, neither told|strong="H5046" he me his name|strong="H8034":
7 But he said|strong="H0559" unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive|strong="H2030", and bear|strong="H3205" a son|strong="H1121"; and now drink|strong="H7941" no wine|strong="H3196" nor strong drink|strong="H8354", neither eat|strong="H0398" any unclean|strong="H2932" thing: for the child|strong="H5288" shall be a Nazarite|strong="H5139" to God|strong="H0430" from the womb|strong="H0990" to the day|strong="H3117" of his death|strong="H4194".
8 Then Manoah|strong="H4495" intreated|strong="H6279" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and said|strong="H0559", O|strong="H0994" my Lord|strong="H0136", let|strong="H4994" the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430" which thou didst send|strong="H7971" come again|strong="H0935" unto us, and teach|strong="H3384" us what we shall do|strong="H6213" unto the child|strong="H5288" that shall be born|strong="H3205".
9 And God|strong="H0430" hearkened|strong="H8085" to the voice|strong="H6963" of Manoah|strong="H4495"; and the angel|strong="H4397" of God|strong="H0430" came again|strong="H0935" unto the woman|strong="H0802" as she sat|strong="H3427" in the field|strong="H7704": but Manoah|strong="H4495" her husband|strong="H0376" was not with her.
10 And the woman|strong="H0802" made haste|strong="H4116", and ran|strong="H7323", and shewed|strong="H5046" her husband|strong="H0376", and said|strong="H0559" unto him, Behold, the man|strong="H0376" hath appeared|strong="H7200" unto me, that came|strong="H0935" unto me the other day|strong="H3117".
11 And Manoah|strong="H4495" arose|strong="H6965", and went|strong="H3212" after|strong="H0310" his wife|strong="H0802", and came|strong="H0935" to the man|strong="H0376", and said|strong="H0559" unto him, Art thou the man|strong="H0376" that spakest|strong="H1696" unto the woman|strong="H0802"? And he said|strong="H0559", I am.
12 And Manoah|strong="H4495" said|strong="H0559", Now let thy words|strong="H1697" come to pass|strong="H0935". How shall we order|strong="H4941" the child|strong="H5288", and how shall we do|strong="H4639" unto him?
13 And the angel|strong="H4397" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto Manoah|strong="H4495", Of all that I said|strong="H0559" unto the woman|strong="H0802" let her beware|strong="H8104".
14 She may not eat|strong="H0398" of any thing that cometh|strong="H3318" of the vine|strong="H1612", neither let her drink|strong="H8354" wine|strong="H3196" or strong drink|strong="H7941", nor eat|strong="H0398" any unclean|strong="H2932" thing: all that I commanded|strong="H6680" her let her observe|strong="H8104".
15 And Manoah|strong="H4495" said|strong="H0559" unto the angel|strong="H4397" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, I pray thee, let us detain|strong="H6113" thee, until we shall have made ready|strong="H6213" a kid|strong="H1423" for|strong="H6440" thee.
16 And the angel|strong="H4397" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto Manoah|strong="H4495", Though thou detain|strong="H6113" me, I will not eat|strong="H0398" of thy bread|strong="H3899": and if|strong="H0518" thou wilt offer|strong="H6213" a burnt offering|strong="H5930", thou must offer|strong="H5927" it unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*. For Manoah|strong="H4495" knew|strong="H3045" not that he was an angel|strong="H4397" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
17 And Manoah|strong="H4495" said|strong="H0559" unto the angel|strong="H4397" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, What is thy name|strong="H8034", that when thy sayings|strong="H1697" come to pass|strong="H0935" we may do thee honour|strong="H3513"?
18 And the angel|strong="H4397" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto him, Why askest|strong="H7592" thou thus after my name|strong="H8034", seeing it is secret|strong="H6383"?
19 So Manoah|strong="H4495" took|strong="H3947" a kid|strong="H1423" with a meat offering|strong="H4503", and offered|strong="H5927" it upon a rock|strong="H6697" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: and the angel did|strong="H6213" wondrously|strong="H6381"; and Manoah|strong="H4495" and his wife|strong="H0802" looked on|strong="H7200".
20 For it came to pass, when the flame|strong="H3851" went up|strong="H5927" toward heaven|strong="H8064" from off the altar|strong="H4196", that the angel|strong="H4397" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* ascended|strong="H5927" in the flame|strong="H3851" of the altar|strong="H4196". And Manoah|strong="H4495" and his wife|strong="H0802" looked on|strong="H7200" it, and fell on|strong="H5307" their faces|strong="H6440" to the ground|strong="H0776".
21 But the angel|strong="H4397" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* did no more|strong="H3254" appear|strong="H7200" to Manoah|strong="H4495" and to his wife|strong="H0802". Then Manoah|strong="H4495" knew|strong="H3045" that he was an angel|strong="H4397" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
22 And Manoah|strong="H4495" said|strong="H0559" unto his wife|strong="H0802", We shall surely|strong="H4191" die|strong="H4191", because we have seen|strong="H7200" God|strong="H0430".
23 But his wife|strong="H0802" said|strong="H0559" unto him, If|strong="H3863" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* were pleased|strong="H2654" to kill|strong="H4191" us, he would not have received|strong="H3947" a burnt offering|strong="H5930" and a meat offering|strong="H4503" at our hands|strong="H3027", neither would he have shewed|strong="H7200" us all these things, nor would as at this time|strong="H6256" have told|strong="H8085" us such things as these|strong="H2063".
24 And the woman|strong="H0802" bare|strong="H3205" a son|strong="H1121", and called|strong="H7121" his name|strong="H8034" Samson|strong="H8123": and the child|strong="H5288" grew|strong="H1431", and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* blessed|strong="H1288" him.
25 And the Spirit|strong="H7307" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* began|strong="H2490" to move him at times|strong="H6470" in the camp|strong="H4264" of Dan|strong="H1835" between Zorah|strong="H6881" and Eshtaol|strong="H0847".
