Joel 2

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

Blow|strong="H8628" ye the trumpet|strong="H7782" in Zion|strong="H6726", and sound an alarm|strong="H7321" in my holy|strong="H6944" mountain|strong="H2022": let all the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of the land|strong="H0776" tremble|strong="H7264": for the day|strong="H3117" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* cometh|strong="H0935", for it is nigh at hand|strong="H7138";

A day|strong="H3117" of darkness|strong="H2822" and of gloominess|strong="H0653", a day|strong="H3117" of clouds|strong="H6051" and of thick darkness|strong="H6205", as the morning|strong="H7837" spread|strong="H6566" upon the mountains|strong="H2022": a great|strong="H7227" people|strong="H5971" and a strong|strong="H6099"; there hath not been|strong="H1961" ever|strong="H5769" the like, neither shall be any more|strong="H3254" after|strong="H0310" it, even to the years|strong="H8141" of many|strong="H1755" generations|strong="H1755".

A fire|strong="H0784" devoureth|strong="H0398" before|strong="H6440" them; and behind|strong="H0310" them a flame|strong="H3852" burneth|strong="H3857": the land|strong="H0776" is as the garden|strong="H1588" of Eden|strong="H5731" before|strong="H6440" them, and behind|strong="H0310" them a desolate|strong="H8077" wilderness|strong="H4057"; yea, and nothing shall escape|strong="H6413" them.

The appearance|strong="H4758" of them is as the appearance|strong="H4758" of horses|strong="H5483"; and as horsemen|strong="H6571", so shall they run|strong="H7323".

Like the noise|strong="H6963" of chariots|strong="H4818" on the tops|strong="H7218" of mountains|strong="H2022" shall they leap|strong="H7540", like the noise|strong="H6963" of a flame|strong="H3851" of fire|strong="H0784" that devoureth|strong="H0398" the stubble|strong="H7179", as a strong|strong="H6099" people|strong="H5971" set in battle|strong="H4421" array|strong="H6186".

Before their face|strong="H6440" the people|strong="H5971" shall be much pained|strong="H2342": all faces|strong="H6440" shall gather|strong="H6908" blackness|strong="H6289".

They shall run|strong="H7323" like mighty men|strong="H1368"; they shall climb|strong="H5927" the wall|strong="H2346" like men|strong="H0582" of war|strong="H4421"; and they shall march|strong="H3212" every one|strong="H0376" on his ways|strong="H1870", and they shall not break|strong="H5670" their ranks|strong="H0734":

Neither shall one|strong="H0376" thrust|strong="H1766" another|strong="H0251"; they shall walk|strong="H3212" every one|strong="H1397" in his path|strong="H4546": and when they fall|strong="H5307" upon the sword|strong="H7973", they shall not be wounded|strong="H1214".

They shall run to and fro|strong="H8264" in the city|strong="H5892"; they shall run|strong="H7323" upon the wall|strong="H2346", they shall climb up|strong="H5927" upon the houses|strong="H1004"; they shall enter in|strong="H0935" at the windows|strong="H2474" like a thief|strong="H1590".

The earth|strong="H0776" shall quake|strong="H7264" before|strong="H6440" them; the heavens|strong="H8064" shall tremble|strong="H7493": the sun|strong="H8121" and the moon|strong="H3394" shall be dark|strong="H6937", and the stars|strong="H3556" shall withdraw|strong="H0622" their shining|strong="H5051":

And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* shall utter|strong="H5414" his voice|strong="H6963" before|strong="H6440" his army|strong="H2428": for his camp|strong="H4264" is very|strong="H3966" great|strong="H7227": for he is strong|strong="H6099" that executeth|strong="H6213" his word|strong="H1697": for the day|strong="H3117" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is great|strong="H1419" and very|strong="H3966" terrible|strong="H3372"; and who can abide|strong="H3557" it?

Therefore also now, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, turn|strong="H7725" ye even to me with all your heart|strong="H3824", and with fasting|strong="H6685", and with weeping|strong="H1065", and with mourning|strong="H4553":

And rend|strong="H7167" your heart|strong="H3824", and not your garments|strong="H0899", and turn|strong="H7725" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* your God|strong="H0430": for he is gracious|strong="H2587" and merciful|strong="H7349", slow|strong="H0750" to anger|strong="H0639", and of great|strong="H7227" kindness|strong="H2617", and repenteth|strong="H5162" him of the evil|strong="H7451".

Who knoweth|strong="H3045" if he will return|strong="H7725" and repent|strong="H5162", and leave|strong="H7604" a blessing|strong="H1293" behind|strong="H0310" him; even a meat offering|strong="H4503" and a drink offering|strong="H5262" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* your God|strong="H0430"?

Blow|strong="H8628" the trumpet|strong="H7782" in Zion|strong="H6726", sanctify|strong="H6942" a fast|strong="H6685", call|strong="H7121" a solemn assembly|strong="H6116":

Gather|strong="H0622" the people|strong="H5971", sanctify|strong="H6942" the congregation|strong="H6951", assemble|strong="H6908" the elders|strong="H2205", gather|strong="H0622" the children|strong="H5768", and those that suck|strong="H3243" the breasts|strong="H7699": let the bridegroom|strong="H2860" go forth|strong="H3318" of his chamber|strong="H2315", and the bride|strong="H3618" out of her closet|strong="H2646".

Let the priests|strong="H3548", the ministers|strong="H8334" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, weep|strong="H1058" between the porch|strong="H0197" and the altar|strong="H4196", and let them say|strong="H0559", Spare|strong="H2347" thy people|strong="H5971", O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and give|strong="H5414" not thine heritage|strong="H5159" to reproach|strong="H2781", that the heathen|strong="H1471" should rule over|strong="H4910" them: wherefore should they say|strong="H0559" among the people|strong="H5971", Where is their God|strong="H0430"?

Then will the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* be jealous|strong="H7065" for his land|strong="H0776", and pity|strong="H2550" his people|strong="H5971".

Yea, the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* will answer|strong="H6030" and say|strong="H0559" unto his people|strong="H5971", Behold, I will send|strong="H7971" you corn|strong="H1715", and wine|strong="H8492", and oil|strong="H3323", and ye shall be satisfied|strong="H7646" therewith: and I will no more make|strong="H5414" you a reproach|strong="H2781" among the heathen|strong="H1471":

But I will remove far off|strong="H7368" from you the northern|strong="H6830" army, and will drive|strong="H5080" him into a land|strong="H0776" barren|strong="H6723" and desolate|strong="H8077", with his face|strong="H6440" toward the east|strong="H6931" sea|strong="H3220", and his hinder part|strong="H5490" toward the utmost|strong="H0314" sea|strong="H3220", and his stink|strong="H0889" shall come up|strong="H5927", and his ill savour|strong="H6709" shall come up|strong="H5927", because he hath done|strong="H6213" great things|strong="H1431".

Fear|strong="H3372" not, O land|strong="H0127"; be glad|strong="H1523" and rejoice|strong="H8055": for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* will do|strong="H6213" great things|strong="H1431".

Be not afraid|strong="H3372", ye beasts|strong="H0929" of the field|strong="H7704": for the pastures|strong="H4999" of the wilderness|strong="H4057" do spring|strong="H1876", for the tree|strong="H6086" beareth|strong="H5375" her fruit|strong="H6529", the fig tree|strong="H8384" and the vine|strong="H1612" do yield|strong="H5414" their strength|strong="H2428".

Be glad|strong="H1523" then, ye children|strong="H1121" of Zion|strong="H6726", and rejoice|strong="H8055" in the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* your God|strong="H0430": for he hath given|strong="H5414" you the former rain|strong="H4175" moderately|strong="H6666", and he will cause to come down|strong="H3381" for you the rain|strong="H1653", the former rain|strong="H4175", and the latter rain|strong="H4456" in the first|strong="H7223" month.

And the floors|strong="H1637" shall be full|strong="H4390" of wheat|strong="H1250", and the fats|strong="H3342" shall overflow|strong="H7783" with wine|strong="H8492" and oil|strong="H3323".

And I will restore|strong="H7999" to you the years|strong="H8141" that the locust|strong="H0697" hath eaten|strong="H0398", the cankerworm|strong="H3218", and the caterpiller|strong="H2625", and the palmerworm|strong="H1501", my great|strong="H1419" army|strong="H2428" which I sent|strong="H7971" among you.

And ye shall eat|strong="H0398" in plenty|strong="H0398", and be satisfied|strong="H7646", and praise|strong="H1984" the name|strong="H8034" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* your God|strong="H0430", that hath dealt|strong="H6213" wondrously|strong="H6381" with you: and my people|strong="H5971" shall never|strong="H5769" be ashamed|strong="H0954".

And ye shall know|strong="H3045" that I am in the midst|strong="H7130" of Israel|strong="H3478", and that I am the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* your God|strong="H0430", and none else: and my people|strong="H5971" shall never|strong="H5769" be ashamed|strong="H0954".

And it shall come to pass afterward|strong="H0310", that I will pour out|strong="H8210" my spirit|strong="H7307" upon all flesh|strong="H1320"; and your sons|strong="H1121" and your daughters|strong="H1323" shall prophesy|strong="H5012", your old men|strong="H2205" shall dream|strong="H2492" dreams|strong="H2472", your young men|strong="H0970" shall see|strong="H7200" visions|strong="H2384":

And also upon the servants|strong="H5650" and upon the handmaids|strong="H8198" in those days|strong="H3117" will I pour out|strong="H8210" my spirit|strong="H7307".

And I will shew|strong="H5414" wonders|strong="H4159" in the heavens|strong="H8064" and in the earth|strong="H0776", blood|strong="H1818", and fire|strong="H0784", and pillars|strong="H8490" of smoke|strong="H6227".

The sun|strong="H8121" shall be turned|strong="H2015" into darkness|strong="H2822", and the moon|strong="H3394" into blood|strong="H1818", before|strong="H6440" the great|strong="H1419" and the terrible|strong="H3372" day|strong="H3117" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* come|strong="H0935".

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call|strong="H7121" on the name|strong="H8034" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* shall be delivered|strong="H4422": for in mount|strong="H2022" Zion|strong="H6726" and in Jerusalem|strong="H3389" shall be deliverance|strong="H6413", as the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath said|strong="H0559", and in the remnant|strong="H8300" whom the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* shall call|strong="H7121".
