Yet now hear|strong="H8085", O Jacob|strong="H3290" my servant|strong="H5650"; and Israel|strong="H3478", whom I have chosen|strong="H0977":
Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* that made|strong="H6213" thee, and formed|strong="H3335" thee from the womb|strong="H0990", which will help|strong="H5826" thee; Fear|strong="H3372" not, O Jacob|strong="H3290", my servant|strong="H5650"; and thou, Jesurun|strong="H3484", whom I have chosen|strong="H0977".
For I will pour|strong="H3332" water|strong="H4325" upon him that is thirsty|strong="H6771", and floods|strong="H5140" upon the dry ground|strong="H3004": I will pour|strong="H3332" my spirit|strong="H7307" upon thy seed|strong="H2233", and my blessing|strong="H1293" upon thine offspring|strong="H6631":
And they shall spring up|strong="H6779" as among|strong="H0996" the grass|strong="H2682", as willows|strong="H6155" by the water|strong="H4325" courses|strong="H2988".
One shall say|strong="H0559", I am the \+w LORD’s|strong="H3068"\+w*; and another shall call|strong="H7121" himself by the name|strong="H8034" of Jacob|strong="H3290"; and another shall subscribe|strong="H3789" with his hand|strong="H3027" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and surname|strong="H3655" himself by the name|strong="H8034" of Israel|strong="H3478".
Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* the King|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478", and his redeemer|strong="H1350" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635"; I am the first|strong="H7223", and I am the last|strong="H0314"; and beside|strong="H1107" me there is no God|strong="H0430".
And who, as I, shall call|strong="H7121", and shall declare|strong="H5046" it, and set it in order|strong="H6186" for me, since I appointed|strong="H7760" the ancient|strong="H5769" people|strong="H5971"? and the things that are coming|strong="H0857", and shall come|strong="H0935", let them shew|strong="H5046" unto them.
Fear|strong="H6342" ye not, neither be afraid|strong="H7297": have not I told|strong="H8085" thee from that time|strong="H0227", and have declared|strong="H5046" it? ye are even my witnesses|strong="H5707". Is there|strong="H3426" a God|strong="H0433" beside|strong="H1107" me? yea, there is no God|strong="H6697"; I know|strong="H3045" not any.
They that make|strong="H3335" a graven image|strong="H6459" are all of them vanity|strong="H8414"; and their delectable things|strong="H2530" shall not profit|strong="H3276"; and they are their own witnesses|strong="H5707"; they see|strong="H7200" not, nor know|strong="H3045"; that they may be ashamed|strong="H0954".
Who hath formed|strong="H3335" a god|strong="H0410", or molten|strong="H5258" a graven image|strong="H6459" that is profitable|strong="H3276" for nothing|strong="H1115"?
Behold, all his fellows|strong="H2270" shall be ashamed|strong="H0954": and the workmen|strong="H2796", they are of men|strong="H0120": let them all be gathered together|strong="H6908", let them stand up|strong="H5975"; yet they shall fear|strong="H6342", and they shall be ashamed|strong="H0954" together|strong="H3162".
The smith|strong="H1270" with the tongs|strong="H4621" both worketh|strong="H6466" in the coals|strong="H6352", and fashioneth|strong="H3335" it with hammers|strong="H4717", and worketh|strong="H6466" it with the strength|strong="H3581" of his arms|strong="H2220": yea, he is hungry|strong="H7457", and his strength|strong="H3581" faileth|strong="H0369": he drinketh|strong="H8354" no water|strong="H4325", and is faint|strong="H3286".
The carpenter|strong="H2796" stretcheth out|strong="H5186" his rule|strong="H6957"; he marketh it out|strong="H8388" with a line|strong="H8279"; he fitteth|strong="H6213" it with planes|strong="H4741", and he marketh it out|strong="H8388" with the compass|strong="H4230", and maketh|strong="H6213" it after the figure|strong="H8403" of a man|strong="H0376", according to the beauty|strong="H8597" of a man|strong="H0120"; that it may remain|strong="H3427" in the house|strong="H1004".
He heweth him down|strong="H3772" cedars|strong="H0730", and taketh|strong="H3947" the cypress|strong="H8645" and the oak|strong="H0437", which he strengtheneth|strong="H0553" for himself among the trees|strong="H6086" of the forest|strong="H3293": he planteth|strong="H5193" an ash|strong="H0766", and the rain|strong="H1653" doth nourish|strong="H1431" it.
Then shall it be for a man|strong="H0120" to burn|strong="H1197": for he will take|strong="H3947" thereof, and warm|strong="H2552" himself; yea, he kindleth|strong="H5400" it, and baketh|strong="H0644" bread|strong="H3899"; yea, he maketh|strong="H6466" a god|strong="H0410", and worshippeth|strong="H7812" it; he maketh|strong="H6213" it a graven image|strong="H6459", and falleth down|strong="H5456" thereto.
He burneth|strong="H8313" part|strong="H2677" thereof in|strong="H1119" the fire|strong="H0784"; with part|strong="H2677" thereof he eateth|strong="H0398" flesh|strong="H1320"; he roasteth|strong="H6740" roast|strong="H6748", and is satisfied|strong="H7646": yea, he warmeth|strong="H2552" himself, and saith|strong="H0559", Aha|strong="H1889", I am warm|strong="H2552", I have seen|strong="H7200" the fire|strong="H0217":
And the residue|strong="H7611" thereof he maketh|strong="H6213" a god|strong="H0410", even his graven image|strong="H6459": he falleth down|strong="H5456" unto it, and worshippeth|strong="H7812" it, and prayeth|strong="H6419" unto it, and saith|strong="H0559", Deliver|strong="H5337" me; for thou art my god|strong="H0410".
They have not known|strong="H3045" nor understood|strong="H0995": for he hath shut|strong="H2902" their eyes|strong="H5869", that they cannot see|strong="H7200"; and their hearts|strong="H3826", that they cannot understand|strong="H7919".
And none considereth|strong="H7725" in his heart|strong="H3820", neither is there knowledge|strong="H1847" nor understanding|strong="H8394" to say|strong="H0559", I have burned|strong="H8313" part|strong="H2677" of it in|strong="H1119" the fire|strong="H0784"; yea, also I have baked|strong="H0644" bread|strong="H3899" upon the coals|strong="H1513" thereof; I have roasted|strong="H6740" flesh|strong="H1320", and eaten|strong="H0398" it: and shall I make|strong="H6213" the residue|strong="H3499" thereof an abomination|strong="H8441"? shall I fall down|strong="H5456" to the stock|strong="H0944" of a tree|strong="H6086"?
He feedeth|strong="H7462" on ashes|strong="H0665": a deceived|strong="H2048" heart|strong="H3820" hath turned him aside|strong="H5186", that he cannot deliver|strong="H5337" his soul|strong="H5315", nor say|strong="H0559", Is there not a lie|strong="H8267" in my right hand|strong="H3225"?
Remember|strong="H2142" these, O Jacob|strong="H3290" and Israel|strong="H3478"; for thou art my servant|strong="H5650": I have formed|strong="H3335" thee; thou art my servant|strong="H5650": O Israel|strong="H3478", thou shalt not be forgotten|strong="H5382" of me.
I have blotted out|strong="H4229", as a thick cloud|strong="H5645", thy transgressions|strong="H6588", and, as a cloud|strong="H6051", thy sins|strong="H2403": return|strong="H7725" unto me; for I have redeemed|strong="H1350" thee.
Sing|strong="H7442", O ye heavens|strong="H8064"; for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath done|strong="H6213" it: shout|strong="H7321", ye lower parts|strong="H8482" of the earth|strong="H0776": break forth|strong="H6476" into singing|strong="H7440", ye mountains|strong="H2022", O forest|strong="H3293", and every tree|strong="H6086" therein: for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath redeemed|strong="H1350" Jacob|strong="H3290", and glorified|strong="H6286" himself in Israel|strong="H3478".
Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, thy redeemer|strong="H1350", and he that formed|strong="H3335" thee from the womb|strong="H0990", I am the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* that maketh|strong="H6213" all things; that stretcheth forth|strong="H5186" the heavens|strong="H8064" alone; that spreadeth abroad|strong="H7554" the earth|strong="H0776" by myself;
That frustrateth|strong="H6565" the tokens|strong="H0226" of the liars|strong="H0907", and maketh diviners|strong="H7080" mad|strong="H1984"; that turneth|strong="H7725" wise|strong="H2450" men backward|strong="H0268", and maketh their knowledge|strong="H1847" foolish|strong="H5528";
That confirmeth|strong="H6965" the word|strong="H1697" of his servant|strong="H5650", and performeth|strong="H7999" the counsel|strong="H6098" of his messengers|strong="H4397"; that saith|strong="H0559" to Jerusalem|strong="H3389", Thou shalt be inhabited|strong="H3427"; and to the cities|strong="H5892" of Judah|strong="H3063", Ye shall be built|strong="H1129", and I will raise up|strong="H6965" the decayed places|strong="H2723" thereof:
That saith|strong="H0559" to the deep|strong="H6683", Be dry|strong="H2717", and I will dry up|strong="H3001" thy rivers|strong="H5104":
That saith|strong="H0559" of Cyrus|strong="H3566", He is my shepherd|strong="H7462", and shall perform|strong="H7999" all my pleasure|strong="H2656": even saying|strong="H0559" to Jerusalem|strong="H3389", Thou shalt be built|strong="H1129"; and to the temple|strong="H1964", Thy foundation shall be laid|strong="H3245".
